This dress is impressive. After 123 years, most parts are stable and in good condition. Somehow, even the embroidered net insertion has survived with only a small number of small breaks. The main challenge with this dress is the alteration to the skirt waist, where a series of deep pleats on the skirt’s left side were released and stitched back together, incorrectly. The back of the skirt now sits asymmetrically and the hook and eyes are missing. The alteration appears to have not been finished. Thankfully, most of the original silhouette and construction appears to still be there. This would be a wickedly fun project for a talented hand to decipher! Lot 3.
