Around 11 years ago while perusing the @melrosetradingpost I found a box full of my dream china and snagged it for $40. We didn’t register for wedding china. Instead my mom surprised me by completing the set so I had at least 8 full place settings, plus tea cups and saucers, a serving platter and bowl set, etc. Well, today the shelf of my hutch collapsed and it all came crashing down. It caved down on a second shelf full of vintage treasures I have collected over the course of 10+ years. And it all spilled out into the floor. When I saw it I was sick. Heartbroken, really. My husband carefully helped me salvage what we could. Charlie and Calvin were so sad for me and just keep asking if I was ok. Charlie said “I understand how that must feel because if I lost my shelf with all of my books and things I love I would be really sad and would probably cry too momma.” Yes, I cried. Charlie told me it would be ok because he was going to draw it all for me so I could always remember them. (I mean, what a kid, right? ) I told them all I would be ok and sent them outside to play so I could clean up the mess alone, and let myself cry. And then I realized that I’ve told the kids so many times “stuff is just stuff. Stuff can be replaced.” When they ask “what happens if there is a fire — how do we save our stuff?” And I always say “stuff is just stuff. Stuff can be replaced, but people can’t.” Well, here I was sick over stuff. Yes, stuff I had sentimental attachment to, but stuff nonetheless. So instead of wallowing in something that made me sad (because I can wallow with the best of them when I’m not at my best, mental health-wise), I’m grateful for the opportunity to see what empathetic sons I’m raising, I’m learning from my own teaching moment and reminding my kids of it as well, and I’m just glad no kids or cats were hurt. How many of you are not fully living or are a shadow of who you were truly meant to be because someone in your life doesn’t fully appreciate or understand you? You hold back from being the person you are called to be because someone doesn’t agree with what you are doing. So many of us care more about the opinions of others and being loved by others than we care about respecting and loving ourselves. We care more about what others think that those people end up shaping OUR future. Here’s the truth.... 1. No one else’s opinions really matters about your life but your own and their opinions will never pay your bills! 2. You truly do become like the 5 people you surround yourself with the most — choose wisely. The people that you are constantly trying to impress may not always be there! 3. Every time you convince yourself that your dreams do not matter, you are reinforcing in your mind that something is wrong with YOU! I give you permission to: DITCH YOUR COMFORT ZONE! IT’S TIME TO DREAM BIG FRIEND! Stop letting the small minded people in your life hold you back. Life is too short and you deserve to live the life of your dreams. I have some big news!! I am no longer doing massage therapy for survival!! FINALLY! I am only giving 1-2 massages week just because I made a commitment to some of my clients. But I don’t have to anymore just to pay the bills. What a sigh of freaking relief. My joints were throbbing, my wrists were in constant paint, my energy was chronically drained, I was resenting the work, and would cry every time I got home from work. This work made it hard to be my best self and live in a high vibrational state. My health and happiness were suffering just to make other people feel better. My time and energy didn’t feel valued. But now! OMG now! I am finally free. I now have time to do the things that make me happy. I’m not a slave to my laptop like I was in my other job as a network marketer. I “work” about 2-3 hours a day 3-4 days a week and it’s completely flexible. 90% of the work is done for you so you’re not spending hours upon hours working with people, and following up with them, just for them to eventually say no to what you have to offer. I now get to do art and not feel guilty about it. I get take mornings off to meditate, do yoga, repeat my affirmations, daydream, sip lemon water, spend time with Naia, feel centered and organized. I get to spend time with friends and family whenever I damn feel like it and not feel guilty. I can hire a babysitter to watch Naia just so I can have some alone time and not feel guilty. This is a dream come true. And I am so freaking grateful! If you love your job, that is so awesome and I’m so happy for you. If you love your job, do you love your paycheck?! What if you could keep pursuing your passions but make the income of your dreams?! What would your life look like with an extra 5k, 10k or 20k a month?! (Or more) I’m not talking out of my ass here you guys, all of this is real and super achievable. Not 4 years from now after pulling 80hr weeks...but like right now, right now! What would be your dream monthly income if you only had to work very part time?! Comment below
