I haven’t posted any pottery for a while, so here’s some bowls I finished recently. I like this one because it looks like a supernova! The glaze is tenmoko over textured white and the bowl is about 15cm in diameter. The others are green or blue glaze over textured white. They’re perfect for porridge. A lovely one-off Dressing Table has a curved surface that feels smooth, warm and embracing. The front legs of sliced and steam-bent ash are brought through the surface of the table and traditionally wedged and the back left is left long and brought through to support the adjustable bevelled glass mirror. The looped back creates a storage niche for make up and hair brushes The local olive ash has a stunning grain pattern and warm pinky colour. Wheel thrown altered vessel. Expanding on the layering theme that resurfaces in my work from time to time. I’ve discovered that timing is everything when it comes to sculpting and impressing into clay. Morning! So one of the questions I get asked a lot is how long do I spend on Instagram, I checked and says that on average 1.5 hours a day what do you think guys, too much? Too little? I thought was maybe an hour but I like spending time here, connecting and discovering accounts, getting inspired but there’s a danger of comparison too, do you know how much time you spend? Would love to know your thoughts on this i might have to reduce my screen time a bit as on my phone says I spend about 4.5 hours . . Have a great weekend everyone! It’s a long one here in UK

Wheel thrown, sculpted vessels. This little clan of cups and bowls headed off to Whistler recently for a gas reduction firing @vincentmasseypottery along with other lovely work from several FVPG and DPG members. A few pieces didn’t make it through to high-firing. And for good reason, as I pushed the boundaries of clay and time. So here’s what not to do in pottery: Wheel throw vessels on a Wednesday. Trim, sculpt and force dry on Thursday. Bisque fire at colleague’s on Friday. Unload on Saturday for the Whistler trip on Sunday. One of the pieces which split along the base from first (bisque) kiln firing while damp was lovingly and stubbornly patched with raw clay.
