ME IN MY HAPPY PLACE: drawing, wearing something cute and colorful and surrounded by pretty plants /✍️/ I can’t express the gratitude I feel for my job. Never would I have imagined that I would get paid to draw, to create, to get creative. And now, here I am: working as an illustrator, designer and content creator. /✍️/ I always loved drawing and making stuff, but I didn’t really want a job like this when I was younger. The life of an ‘artist’ didn’t draw me in, content creation didn’t really excist yet and design wasn’t really a thing either - or at least to my knowledge at that time. /✍️/ So when it was time for me to think about my education and what I would like todo later on in life, a lot of options went by in a short amount of time. I thought about working at a fashion magazine (typical), doing architecture (I loved drawing, but hate physics and technical stuff so this wasn’t my path to be taken) and going to art school (love art, don’t love art school). In the end, I settled for communication. Right in the middle of commercial and creative and broad enough that I could basically do anything later on. /✍️/ Believe it or not, even during the three years of my bachelor I didn’t design. Didn’t want to, didn’t even think of it as something I might want to do. It was during my first job after college I discovered I was meant for a more creative job. I was working as a social media specialist at an agency, which basically meant I did a little bit of everything social media wise. Advertising, copywriting, planning, designing, managing... most of the clients I worked for didn’t ask a lot of creativity or didn’t give me a lot of freedom, except for one client later on. And that’s when I saw an opportunity, began designing and illustrating social media visuals and then I realized: “this is it, I love this!”. /✍️/ And I do really believe that, we all, step by step get a little closer to our goals. I feel like we all start in this big, wide funnel and slowly but surely make the funnel thinner and thinner until we reach our end game. /✍️/ So. What is it that you do? I made this illustration thinking of how much my work has shifted from physical to digital art in the last year. When I moved to the US and I was trying to photograph my paintings to send to local galleries, I was getting frustrated at how long it would take me to take pics that would not alter the colors or would show the textures correctly, or not crop the composition. Little by little I started to use the digital media much more, and that’s when this Instagram account was born. Now, I’m in love of the way I can engage with a lot more people, get instant feedback of the things I’m working on, and get to know so many amazing artist out here that are sharing this same journey.

Took it easy the last couple of days just because I was feeling frustrated. I took the time to enjoy my family. My dad, sister, and I were dying of laughter last night, and i spent part of the evening playing with my dogs & loving on them. There is a lot going on right now as I prepare to leave the country for three weeks on Friday. I have been working on the site, getting product added, started packing, doing my last minute shopping, prepping the house for my sister to stay, and more... It feels so overwhelming at the moment, and I hate the feeling that something is going to have to give... Leaving me with lingering tasks when I return. It's soooo frustrating.
