When I started this page I never dreamed that I’d have a lot of followers or be featured in a online magazine (twice) lol this page started kinda on accident ‍♀️ I used to call myself the most boring person in Dallas. I woke up, went to work, came home, went to bed and did it all over again. I never went anywhere or did anything cause I thought I needed someone to go with me. And I just got sick of it! No one wanted to do the things I wanted to do so I just went and did them myself and took pictures along the way. I had no idea what a blogger was but I figured it out and I have met so many great Dallas people and seen so many great places in our amazing city that I wouldn’t have otherwise. Because of y’all, you give me an excuse to get out and explore and try so many new things and I can’t thank you enough. I hope I encourage you to get out and experience new things and explore this city. I have not always been the biggest club person, but I’ve always loved chilling at bars, and I have an absolute love of dive bars. Holes in the wall that are completely special and one of the best dives in Dallas is @lee.harveys in The Cedars. Think major small town nostalgia the inside holds about 50 people and is fitted with a wooden bar, and vintage beer signs, a cigarette machine, pac man, and a working jukebox that usually plays the likes of Queen. And if that’s not your thing, most of the seating is outside, on a huge patio with picnic tables and lights and fire pits. They serve all types of drinks, even down to Schlitz, and serve some pretty decent bar eats. Pictured is the onion rings, rated the best onion rings in Dallas, fried perfectly crispy with garlic aioli you’ll want some of that sauce to take home! This bar was also rated Best Dive Bar by D magazine in 2012 and 2016 this is a one of a kind bar. We have a new mural on the block, one of the firsts of 2019! It is a huge understatement to say Van Gogh is my favorite artist. And @smitheycathy did a beautiful job recreating Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night. Cathy Ann Smith is a muralist and artist living in the suburbs, making her mark throughout the city. You can see a lot of her work in downtown Greenville in Greenville, Tx. It’s great to see a girl from the burbs (like me) contributing to make Dallas great! Welcome to the hood @beautybardallas everyone’s favorite Knox Henderson dance club has officially opened in Deep Ellum even bigger and more badass than before and if you don’t quite recall them, they were the insta famous bar with the cherries on them. Beauty Bar is now located right next door to Stirr with the green patio and it’s been updated a lot! The entire decor is 70’s retro chic and they are now open at 4pm for happy hour there is a main bar area in the front, and the DJ and dance floor is now located in the back. A big difference from their tiny Henderson location. Beauty Bar has even been written up in Rolling Stones magazine as one of the best Hipster bars and they have a few different locations throughout the US in some pretty high profile places ✌They have been open a couple weeks now, so stop by and welcome the to the neighborhood. This is my favorite little spot in Dallas it’s one of those places you wouldn’t know about unless someone told you. This is @radhakalachandji a Krishna Temple in East Dallas and also a restaurant. Tuesday- Sunday you can dine at Kalachandjis for lunch and dinner in their entirely vegetarian cafeteria. They cook every meal fresh along with a salad bar and have their own garden across the street. Pictured is the vegetarian lasagna, fresh salad and Potatoes, Okra, and Curry. The dining area is partially outdoors and opens into a beautiful outdoor atrium making this a perfect spot for summer. and every meal comes with a small dessert. You can never run out of ✨beauty✨ walking around Deep Ellum. The walls are constantly changing. This wall though, has stayed constant since 2017. This is “Deep Ellum Janus” by @dcolcerart and commissioned by the bar/restaurant @armouryde . Dan Colcer actually has quite a few murals hanging around DE but this happens to be his biggest. And the Janus is perfect because Janus is the Roman God of beginnings, transitions, time, and endings. He usually has two faces because he looks to the future and to the past and I couldn’t think of anything more fitting for the neighborhood given Deep Ellums old, jazz history and it’s new, growing, artsy future now. Dan Colcer is from Romania lived in Chicago briefly, and has been a Dallasite since 2008. You may remember one of his other pieces called “catching fish” in 2015 of a hairless cat on The Clicks building on Main St. and a few smaller pieces around the hood. Switching off vacation mode and back in D-Town. Austin was great, but a girls gotta work ‍♀️ but I came back just in time for Taco Tuesday to introduce you to the new kid on the block @tacolingo Tacos Lingos is somewhere between a traditional taqueria and Velvet Taco with fresh homemade ingredients and interesting combinations that goes all the way to their drink menu pictured is the Buffalo and pork taco, and also the chicken and carne asada! The buffalo was beyond my favorite with creamy buffalo sauce, blue cheese crumbles and sliced cucumber. So good also pictured is the is the mango margarita and the strawberry tamarind and something no table should be without, a fresh bowl of queso this is definitely a fun a place to try if you’re looking for not your average taco but is a bit nicer than your usual taco spot.
