My Bamboo gate that my husband (@jasonmx79 )built me out of bamboo from his Dads property. The Greenhouse Nook. My vision one night sitting out by the greenhouse after we finished it last Fall. It’s in between my husbands shop and my fenced back yard.... and all my garden beds are in the back half of the fenced yard. We put it next to his shop so I could use electricity (eventually I’ll go solar but those fans and panels that would run a winter heater are much more expensive and weren’t in the budget). My nook is in progress... but I got the herb bed started along the shop wall (and some extra greens), the potato sacks are up on cedar boards to help keep ants at bay, one of my moms old benches is in place, the greenhouse surround is done to help keep grass from creeping under... plans to border up and mulch under the bench and potato sacks. Later my turmeric tubs will sit there when they come out of greenhouse. We added an access gate to yard from inside of nook. I’ve used the center and the side of greenhouse for hardening off veggies. There will be beans along the fence soon to border up and provide some evening shade to my bench and potatoes and turmeric(it gets really hot and dry here). I LOVE having my little space to escape to. Even tho I’m in my yard it’s like I’m somewhere else. And.... the chickens can’t get in to scratch up my mulch and herbs!! No chicken zone! We went to a Garden Party, to reminisce with creative friends. A chance to share some memories and take pictures once again! When we got to the Garden Party, everyone knew our names but most didn’t recognize us, without filters we don’t look the same But, its all right now, we’ve learned our lessons well. You see, we are #friendswhoinspire and at that (I think) we do accel. So here’s my Garden Party with a DIY approach. I hope my project inspires you, but please, I’m here if you need a coach. What do you do with those empty canning jars once you’ve burned the candles? You know the ones, the Country Pear, Georgia Peach and Sweet Lemon...I’m pretty sure everyone on Instagram has purchased at least one candle in a canning jar lately, so what do you do with the empty jar once the candle is gone? How about those little glass yogurt jars? Do you throw them away or do you up cycle them? For today’s DIY project I purchased wire handles and flower frogs at (swipe to see photo) @michaelsstores and @hobbylobby to create hanging flower vases and votive candle holders. The wire grid disk goes beneath the jar ring of a regular mouth canning jar and holds the flowers in place. The hanger may need to be adjusted slightly to fit the smaller yogurt jars but they’ll work on most jars. Such an inexpensive way to decorate for a garden party. Macie domki dla pożytecznych owadów w swoich ogrodach? Nasz pierwszy, kupiony dawno temu, przez ponad rok wisiał w ogrodzie i okazał się kompletnym nieporozumieniem. Waniliowy domek (na zdjęciu) był wypełniony bambusowymi łodygami o średnicy ok. 2 cm czyli jak się okazało dużo za dużej. Po wymianie ich na gałązki z nawierconymi mniejszymi otworami został natychmiast zasiedlony. Każdy kolejny domek w naszym ogrodzie, a jest ich już kilkanaście, powstaje z resztek ogrodowych oraz z tego co akurat jest pod ręką gotowe do wykorzystania, np. drewniana skrzynka po winie czy beczułka po kawie, metalowe puszki po konserwach, deski, listewki czy resztki sklejki wodoodpornej, a nawet desek podłogowych Wnętrze domku wypełniamy gałązkami, które zostają po cięciu krzewów (hortensji, budlei, pęcherznicy, derenia itd.) czy drewnem kominkowym, w których nawiercane są otwory lub pustymi łodygami, np. bambusa, bzu czarnego, maliny, kwiatów liliowców itd. Z moich obserwacji wynika, że największym powodzeniem cieszą się otwory o średnicy 4 - 6 mm (zalecane 2-8 mm). Głębokość otworu min. 10 cm. Gałązki czy drewno przed nawierceniem najlepiej jest wysuszyć, aby zapobiec późniejszemu rozsychaniu dziurek. Popękanymi otworami owady nie są zainteresowane, tak samo jak domkami wypełnionymi szyszkami. Hotelik powinien stać w miejscu osłoniętym od deszczu i wiatru.
