Тогда Фридрих Вильгельм I, пригласивший в город лучших голландских ремесленников, решил создать для мастеров небольшой жилой городок в привычном им архитектурном стиле. Руководил постройкой Голландского квартала (Holländisches Viertel) архитектор Ян Боуман. Представьте себе, если бы у нас в современное время для гастарбайтеров районы строили в их стиле?! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ В уникальном квартале возвели 134 кирпичных дома. Немногие голландские ремесленники остались жить в Потсдаме. В зданиях квартала сейчас размещены модные магазины, антикварные лавки, сувенирные бутики, рестораны, уютные кафе, где вам угостят голландскими блинами и не только — заведения, создающие в немецком городе аутентичную атмосферу Голландии. Жители Потсдама любят отдыхать в Голландском квартале. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ По праздникам улицы «атмосферного Голландского квартала» расцветают огнями. Весной проводится многоцветный «Фестиваль тюльпанов», осенью открывается голландская Гончарная ярмарка.
