MENU PLAN + GROCERY LIST | it’s wednesday and you know what that means! today’s the day i share my $50 plan for a week’s worth of minimal waste, plant-based eats! ☕️ YES there will be breakfast. YES there can be second breakfast. YES there will even be lunch! but we can only plan so much before it turns into a compulsion, am i right? that’s why i only make a grocery list and a semi-concrete outline for dinner, and then fly by the seat of my thrifted pants for all the other meals! i find it’s what works for my life: i get the sick thrill from being a little controlling, but pull back before i can become the full-on authoritarian nightmare from a dystopian classic we all read in high school. all this to say, find a groove that works for you! whatever helps you to be prepared to fight food waste but still provides some room for flexibility. that’s the sweet spot, and it looks different in every household!
so tell me, what do you plan and what do you leave up to fate? i’m so interested in how you all make life work!
We've seen a lot of convos lately asking if secondhand fast fashion is sustainable or not. We are firm believers in keeping all wearable clothing in circulation as long as possible—fast fashion or otherwise. It takes a lot of resources to make a garment, and to allow it to be landfilled or incinerated based on the brand seems crazy to us. That's why we accept all brands, even garments without tags, so long as the item is in good condition. ⠀
⠀
This brings up a separate but related topic that we also feel passionate about: high/low style. We love mixing designer and luxury brands with the "less-fancy" stuff. Swap Society co-founder Nicole Robertson showed off some high/low style at our recent event. Can you guess which items are "high" and which items are "low"? Everything she's wearing is from Swap Society except for her shoes and her ring. #swapbeforeyoushop #clothingswap @laurapalladino
Making the most of this cozy space!

SUSTAINABLE SUNDAY | I said a prayer to the gods of thrift and they blessed me with the most epic haul of life you know, sometimes you spend hours digging through filthy piles of trash, and other days you walk in and fill your two reusable totes to the brim in 30 minutes. That’s why I love shopping secondhand, there are so many treasures already in existence that just want to be found.
I’m currently working on starting a super casual IG shop here on this account and holy mack I’m jittery with excitement I have no idea what it’s going to look like yet, but I do know everything I offer will be so special and beautiful and will be shipped to my US buds with reused + recycled materials please tell me you’re stoked! p.s. half of these stunners from yesterday’s haul will for sure be included! Let me know if you wanna get started early and I’ll reserve something for you!
I heard this the other day on a podcast (wish I remember who said it so I could give credit!) and it was exactly what I needed to hear. So, thought I’d share in case it’s something you need to hear, too. .
.
We’ve likely all gotten on board with the idea of slow fashion and slow living, but the idea of slow, steady growth is a bit harder to come to terms with I think while seeing (what seems like) everyone growing their business or Instagram accounts faster than us.
.
.
First of all: that’s probably not true. We never see the full story, how long it’s really taking someone to grow or how much time and effort they’re really putting in. And okay even if it is true, growing slow isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I think there is a beauty in growing slow, and in figuring it out along the way. .
.
It gives us time to reflect on where we’re going and what we want it to look like. If you’ve been around for a while you may know that I started out just re-sharing photos from ethical brands and then I took a break and then I came back and eventually started sharing my own photos.
.
.
I’ve liked having all these different approaches and experiences, and though these shifts probably slowed down my growth (and the long break wasn’t great for engagement ) I think they’ve made me more passionate about this account, less likely to burn out, and more invested in all the various sides of the ethical fashion movement. So, here’s to slow, sustainable growth!
