I had the absolute best time. I’ve been really into the idea of sober dance parties/ecstatic dance and First Light sorta fell into my lap so of course I had to go. . Basically it was an hour of completely sober dancing to all different types of music (highlight was Toxic by Britney Spears followed by Walk Like an Egyptian) with about 30-40 strangers in the middle of a pitch black night club. It was exhilarating. I love dancing but this was unlike anything I’ve experienced. To be able to dance and move my body the way it wanted to move without worrying about being perfect, looking good, or impressing anyone was so freeing. . Halfway through I got this burst of unconditional love and appreciation for myself and the people around me. I left feeling so connected to myself and the people I shared the space with. Also dancing in a nightclub and actually having space to dance was amazing hahaha. . Last night I did something for myself. I did something for fun. It made the little girl inside of me light up like I haven’t felt in a really long time. I’m so excited to continue choosing me, choosing joy, and choosing only situations that’ll serve my highest self. Since living in Bali I’ve been practicing a lot more discernment on what it is my body and mind need after a week of work, and I have been feeling tons more grounded, lighter, happier, and alive. It can be challenging to say no to our loved ones or friends when an opportunity to get together arises (especially over the weekend), but it can take up a lot more of our already depleted energy from the week. It can also be challenging to hit the pause button on our to-do lists when we sometimes can view the weekend as time to catch up. Before we know it, it’s Monday again and we haven’t had time to refill our cup, and nourish our mind, body, and soul the way that it yearns for - with time for ourselves and to just Be. Spending time with family and friends is important, and it’s special to share that time together, BUT if we’re running on empty can we really be present with them at our highest Self? Offering them the best potential version of ourselves? If we don’t take a moment to breathe, and allow ourselves to reconnect to our core and each moment, then how can we efficiently and effectively get through that to-do list without stress taking over us? No matter how many things are on your to-do list or how many people there are to see, your well-being matters first. It’s okay to say no and it’s okay to say yes to your Self first. Today I drove my motorbike to a beautiful Yoga Shala where I took a yoga class, went to an ecstatic dance and a sound healing, and stopped off at the beach to just soak in some fresh ocean breeze. All these things make me feel more rooted and nurtured. I’m feeling so ready for the week and to serve my students from a place of inner peace, happiness, gratitude, and love. Ask yourself what fills your cup and go spend some time doing it . Say “yes” to your Self. Notice a difference in the way that you feel, and observe all the positive shifts as you begin another week a little more grounded, connected, and restored. YOU deserve it .
