I am thrilled to share that I have accepted a position working for the city of Boston within the Boston Public School District! With a large and increasing gap between students and teachers of color, an overrepresentation of black and brown boys incarcerated as a result of the very REAL school to prison pipeline system, the educational inequities that impact BPS student preparation for college, the increasing business model of higher education that leaves little room for students below the top 20% of their class to receive college admittance, the various inadequacies within our educational system that plagues historically marginalized populations at far greater risks than others-it is a challenging honor to be in a position to strategically address educational, achievement, and opportunity insufficiencies alongside Boston Public School leaders. Representation, cultural proficiency, understanding, and accountability matters. - With 17 speaking engagements within EACH of my distinctive platforms of delivery this month alone: Keynote Addresses, Workshop Facilitation, Spoken Word, AND accepted a role within my career field, I am certainly grateful & honored to be in a position to continue unapologetically pouring into a world that has poured into me. After explaining to her father the importance of her future, he successfully agreed. Surreal to be at the apartment Rohn lived in that still belongs to his Nana. His mom grew up in the small Park Slope apartment, along with Rohn, and now his niece. Stories of the daily task of walking to the corner market- the adventure of saving an injured pigeon- his neighbors that seemed like characters- and even seeing the Trade towers fall and having the smog and debris encroached onto his street- countless of these stories came alive this past week in our visit that acted as a living scrapbook.

Life is wild. My mom returns to nursing tomorrow after directing about 20 plays at New Life Academy, and my sister graduating the U of M. Woof. I love these fierce ladies.
