Maschera funeraria di Tutankhamon, Museo del Cairo, Egitto. Nebkheperura Tutankhamon, faraone della XVIII dinastia egizia, nacque nel 1341 a.C. e morì nel 1323 a.C. a soli 18 anni! Il nome originale era Tutankhaton, che significa "immagine vivente di Aton". Questo nome gli fu dato dal padre Akhenaton il quale aveva stabilito che l'unico dio da venerare era Aton che designava il disco solare. Si trattava di una rivoluzione monoteista dato che gli egizi, fino ad allora, avevano venerato moltissime divinità. Infatti, dopo la morte di Akhenaton, si ritornò ad una religione politeista ed il nome del giovane faraone fu transformato in Tutankhamon ossia "immagine vivente di Amon". Templi di File, Egitto. Secondo la tradizione l'isola di File era ritenuta uno dei luoghi di sepoltura di Osiride, era perciò considerata sacra; infatti era concepito come atto sacrilego avvicinarsi per chiunque non fosse un sacerdote. Il tempio più importante è il tempio di Iside che, costruito in epoca tolemaica, domina l'intera isola e rappresentava il principale centro del culto isiaco. A questa struttura si affiancarono altri due templi dedicati alle divinità Horus e Hathor, tanto che File, nel II sec. a.C., divenne uno dei più importanti luoghi di pellegrinaggio dell' Antico Egitto. I templi furono chiusi nel VI secolo d.C. per volere dell' imperatore bizantino Giustiniano I. Nel 1902 venne completata la diga di Assuan e molti monumenti antichi, fra cui quelli di File, rischiarono di essere sommersi dalle acque del Nilo. Al fine di preservare questo complesso templare, nel 1977, gli edifici vennero smontati e ricostruiti sulla vicina isola di Agilkia. * * Philae Temple, Egypt.
