The #BlackDollar circulated at least 15 times at #Afrobrunch. See...folk thought it was just a brunch. But we had a greater vision, an all Black organizing team, 10 #BlackOwned food vendors, a Black photographer, a Black videographer, a Black graphic designer & a Black DJ! What an honor to be of service to a cause much greater than #self. We are on a mission to #ReclaimOurDollar & make #BuyingBlack the norm.

We connected 500 #BlackFoodies to 10 #BlackOwned Food Trucks/Vendors at #SOLDOUT #Afrobrunch. ‍♀️ Such a pleasure to serve alongside @locsandroses @shoprubysampson & Errika! We ate, we circulated the Black dollar, we drank, we jumped rope, we connect four'd & cooked-in with #BlackOwned food trucks & vendors. Blessed to host the inaugural SOLD OUT #AFROBRUNCH connecting 350+ DC #BlackFoodies to #BlackOwned Food Trucks, Brands & Black Chefs. Each ticket sale for this event put coins in the pockets of a Black graphic designer, Black photographer, Black DJ, Black videographer, Black staff, Black temps & Black chefs. My Birthday. This year I watched helplessly as my mom underwent spinal surgery just 1 day after I was asked to vacate my apartment of 5 years in 30 days after protesting an inoperable toilet..a broken toilet which forced me to use the bathroom at the McDonalds for 26 days. 26 nights. The night I found out I had to vacate was before #Afrobrunch - my businesss' biggest blackest food crawl. I was supposed to be celebrating...I showed up to the event, hugged necks, kissed cheeks, put on my make up but I was broken inside..a seminole accomplishment is what it should have been.. but I had ten days to find a new place while negotiating the 24 hour care of my mother. Social media only tells half the story. My last year taught me to value the relationships you cultivate beyond the Facebook friendship & Instagram follows. My best friends moved me in 5 days. Called me in the darkest hour of my mother's recovery. Put cash in my hand because unexpected moves are expensive. And found me a new home. My family provided wrap around support as I heartbreakingly went back to work and though physically present but emotionally overwhelmed...executed a summit for 500 student entrepreneurs.. Our greatest currency is relationships. And as I thank God for making my birthday wish come true...we launched the @theblackupstart school for Black Entrepreneurs Y'ALL!! Truly my greatest gift was my mom's health...my friends and my family who lifted me out of the darkest valleys. Who reminded me...always...but God...but God....but God..My mom could not walk...but God saw fit to fully restore her mobility. I had to vacate my house..but God saw fit to position me in a home. I had to spend a susbstantial amount of my savings on moving..but God knew all the wealth building videos I did & then subsequently followed would prepare me to weather financial storms like this. I thought I had to go through this alone...but God reminded me there are friends..(mine tagged) who stick closer than a brother & there is a familial bond that will never be broken. My truth I hope makes me less #ProfessorKez and more a woman still trying to figure this thing called life out BUT grateful!
