WHAT IS A WEIGHT-INCLUSIVE APPROACH? ✨ . Weight-inclusive means we don’t focus on weight as an indicator of health; we acknowledge that health is a complex combination of variables that differs for each individual; we use the research and the data that shows us that focusing on weight carries a much, MUCH higher chance of triggering disordered eating and body dysmorphia than it does of supporting long-term weight loss. What does weight-inclusive care mean to you? ✨ Been on sitting on this one for NO reason and I’ve been hearing people asking this very question so... here’s a new doodle. Head to the link in the bio to get your copy for presentations and client handouts. ✨ . . . #edrecoverywarrior #socialworkstudent #therapistintraining #mentalhealthsupport #selfcareposts #ptsdrecovery #cptsdrecovery #futuresocialworker #mswstudent #haes #healthateverysize #weightinclusive #mentalhealthadvocacy #mentalhealththerapist #bingeeatingdisoder #bingeeatingdisorderrecovery #atypicalanorexiarecovery

**Only a different version of your earth suit… ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your soul remains and happiness is an inside job. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ No amount of weight lost will impact what’s going on, on a soul level. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And in the same breath, I know these words may only have a small impact if you are feeling like a prisoner in your own body. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I remember feeling that way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And HATING my body and having the thought, “I don’t care if I get an eating disorder if I can get into a body I feel comfortable in…” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That was uncomfortable to share. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But that was my reality. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It didn’t matter the damage it caused, I was willing to go to whatever lengths to get my body to a place that I wanted… ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Until I hit rock bottom… ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I was spiraling out-of-control with food Constantly obsessing over what I could eat next Avoiding my loved ones Binging in secret Digging food out of the trash Taking laxatives Chewing food then spitting it out & waking up in the middle of night to binge ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Rock bottom was scary, but I am thankful for it. It saved my life & forced me to get help. ♥️

It’s hard to sit with the yuck. ⁣ ⁣ It’s also hard to burnout by constant “doing” rather than “being”, attending to everyone else’s needs, and losing your sense of self.⁣ ⁣ •If slowing down feels impossible, what purpose might the busyness serve?⁣ •Why don’t you feel worthy of meeting your own needs?⁣ •Where did these beliefs come from and are they still serving you?⁣ •What would be a more helpful thought/belief that will get you closer to a life you want to live? ⁣ ⁣ I bring these topics up because they’re common, especially with people who want to make peace with food and their body. ⁣ ⁣ Dieting and the pursuit of thinness/fitness/aesthetics was the distraction for many. It kept us busy. If we weren’t thinking about calories, pounds, grams, and reps we might be thinking about trauma, depression, anxiety, or any major life transitions we’re going through. ⁣ ⁣ Learning to be with yourself, your thoughts, and emotions is key to meaningful change. Curiosity, compassion, and acceptance are the MVPs of this. A therapist can be a big help with this, too.

STAYING FAT IN RECOVERY IS VALID (Inspired by a fellow recovery-friend, @colleenmwerner) If we want people to be able to fully recover, we need to make one thing very clear: staying fat in recovery is a very possible outcome, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I’ve heard way too many ED professionals says things like: “One donut won’t make you fat,” or, “Don’t worry, recovery won’t make you fat.” Now, the former may be technically true, but it reinforces fatphobia. And the latter is just downright false, misleading, and still very fatphobic. You might go from a thin body to a fat one in recovery. You might go from a fat body to a fatter body in recovery. Making peace with WHATEVER your body decides to do is part of the recovery process. Remember, if you think you’re recovered but would absolutely lose your shit if you gained weight, then you’ve got more work to do. Trust me, I’ve been there. Rooting out internalized fatphobia is a PROCESS. It doesn’t happen overnight. It certainly didn’t happen that way for me. It took repeated exposure and triggers for me to see exactly where the work needed to be done. So if this post’s message upsets you, or makes you feel some type of way, sit in that feeling; explore it; be curious; and dig deep ♥️ . . . #fuckfatphobia #futuresocialworker #haes #healthateverysize #mentalhealthmeme #edrecoverywarrior #fatliberation #edrecoveryquotes #edrecoveryfamily #edrecoverycommunity #bodyliberation #intuitiveeating #antidietculture #dietculture #dietculturedropout #weightinclusive #bingeeatingdisorderrecovery

It’s confusing out there folks. People are claiming to be anti diet, promoting intuitive eating, and using the *right* words but if you don’t read the captions or if you look closer at the products they’re selling... it can still be 100% diet culture. ⁣ ⁣ -An emphasis on attaining a certain body⁣ -...or body part ⁣ -Eating specific foods⁣ -In specific amounts⁣ -Eliminating foods for non medical reasons⁣ -Tracking food⁣ -Weighing In⁣ -Demonizing sugar, processed, non organic, fat, carbs, gluten, etc⁣ ⁣ ...is still diet culture. ⁣ ⁣ Having a ton of followers does not mean someone is qualified to make claims about food, health, and what’s best for you. ⁣

6 years ago if someone would of told me that @ww would change my life, I would of looked at them and laughed. I still remember the first time I walked through those doors and was ready for a lifestyle change. The Picture of me eating an ice cream cone is what opened my eyes! We were at @legoland_florida and I remember being so tired from walking and squeezed myself into a rollercoaster ‍♀️ Honestly I don't know my exact starting weight because after the scale hit 230 pounds I stopped weighing myself. Once I started to live healthier I discovered I have a heart condition that my cardiologist believes I never felt because of the fat surrounding my heart. I was told I couldn't do any type of HIT workouts and to limit my running. Of course I didn't listen and continued working out because it made me feel good. I ran my first Marathon ( 26.2 miles) in March of 2018 and I'm still here to talk about it This is more than just about weight loss, it's about being mentally healthy as well and beating a binge eating disorder. I give all the credit to @ww because if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be here right now. Don't wait until Monday to start, start NOW! ❤️ Size 20/21 2x top- size 6/8 and small top.

Intuitive Eating did not work for me at first & here’s WHY ⠀ .⠀ I was treating it like another diet. Not surprising honestly considering my past but at the time I had no idea why it wasn’t working for me.⠀ .⠀ Then I realized ➡️ I was treating IE like “the Hunger and Fullness Diet” (term coined by @isabelfoxenduke).⠀ .⠀ If you read the book, you’ll know what I mean. Part of IE is honoring your hunger and feeling your fullness by mindfully rating your hunger & fullness on a scale of 1-10 before and after each meal.⠀ .⠀ As much as I tried to do this - I had NO freakin clue what a 3 hunger felt like and a 7 fullness felt like......like NO idea. So I stressed about eating when “perfectly” hungry and stopping when “perfectly” full. In turn I still wasn’t eating enough for my recovery & continued to binge.⠀ .⠀ Intuitive Eating finally WORKED for me when I heard on @nourishingmindsnutrition to just eat when food SOUNDS GOOD and stop when it doesn’t anymore. Eventually, they said, you will get more used to listening to your hunger cues and it will just become a natural thing. And they were right.⠀ .⠀ If you tried Intuitive Eating but stopped because it wasn’t helping you - revisit it with this new way of looking at it.⠀ .⠀ Let me know how it goes!!!⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #intuitiveeatingofficial #intuitiveeatingjourney #intuitiveeatingcoach #intuitiveeatingfundamentals #eatingintuitively #honoryourhunger #feelyourfullness #ednosrecovered #eatingdisorderhelp #eatingdisordersupport #bodypositivefitness #eatingdisorderrecovery #bingeeatingdisorderrecovery #dietsdontwork #integrativenutrition #antidiet #balancednotclean #foodisnotthenemy #dietculturedropout #bodykindness #bodyacceptance #bodytrust #losehatenotweight #femaleweightlifting #liftheavythings #liftweightsladies #intentionalliving #femaleswholift #worthbeyondweight #happyweight

You have to work hard to get anywhere in life, and to stay there. This applies to creating a healthier, happier relationship to food, as well as jobs, relationships, or anything else. ⠀ ‍‍‍‍✈⠀ ️You know what? It's TOUGH to think painful and difficult thoughts, or experience upsetting emotions. It completely sucks. ⠀ It's a lot easier to focus on a weight loss diet or count calories and carbs. Yet in the long run, the only way to create permanent, sustainable change is to to through the pain and come out the other side. ⠀ Yes, it's tough to work through the past or to tolerate the difficult conflicts, emotions and ideas that you might want to avoid, but learning that you are tougher than you know, that you are more capable than you realize, will give you the self-confidence to go through anything without turning to food! ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #bingeeating #bingeeatingrecovery #bingeeatingdisoder #bingeeatingdisorderrecovery #bingeeatingdisorder #bingeeating #nutrition #disorderedeating #emotionaleating #online #support #eatingdisorder #onlinecoach #eatingdisorderprevention #healthyattitude #healthybody #fitness #strength #mentalhealth⠀
