It’s official. Baby boy and I made it to the #3rdtrimester . . For all of you who have been asking, YES! I’m still living that #fasterway lifestyle (#intermittentfasting & #carbcycling). And I have been feeling so dang good. So good I’ve even been doing ALL of my #fasterwaytofatlossvip workouts, including sprints on the treadmill yesterday (which may have possibly been the last time I do that, but I’ll continue to see how my body feels and play it by ear). . There are a few modifications I’ve been making, so let me share those with you: . ➡️ Low carb days are more of a suggestion Okay, I’m kidding! But I have increased to allow myself up to 100g carbs if my body is feeling fatigued. . ➡️ Planks and burpees and push ups are out of the question. I can physically still do all of these, but the amount of pressure that places on the abdomen can cause diastasis recti, and mama ain’t got time for that postpartum. . ➡️ I’ve been incorporating more abdominal breathing exercises and small, but effective movements, to replace the prescribed ab exercises. This helps keep my core engaged for a speedier/healthier recovery post baby without creating additional abdominal separation. . ➡️ Intermittent fasting is still going strong. BUT if I am feeling extra hungry at 10am, I eat. I don’t try to be a hero and power through. And that’s okay! . ➡️ For now, I am still doing all of the jumps and running in the workouts, but I will be transitioning away from that soon. The reason is because as belly grows, it puts more pressure on the pelvic floor. And the jumping and running can add unnecessary pressure to that and cause a weak pelvic floor, which is not great for us ladies during sneezing fits or uncontrollable laughter . . Have you tried chickpea pasta?⁠ ⁠ For online coaching & vegan meal plans click the link in my bio!⁠ ⁠ This is just a sample high protein full day of eating, the amounts will vary from person to person, but this should help give you some ideas.⁠ ⁠ Breakfast is a yogurt bowl, 30 seconds to prepare, yogurt topped with granola, berries & flax.⁠ ⁠ Snacks is an energy ball, you can buy these, but I recommend making a batch at home and having them for the week. It's basically just blended dates & nuts with whatever extras you want like cacao powder, protein powder, hemp seeds, etc.⁠ ⁠ Lunch is chickpeas pasta with tomato sauce & roasted veg, really simple and easy to prep a few meals at once.⁠ ⁠ Dinner is my homemade seitan with potatoes & veg. Seitan is made from wheat protein basically, so if you can't digest gluten this isn't for you. I find seitan is a nice change for dinner and I'll have it once every week or twice a month. ♻️CARB CYCLING♻️ . . I get a ton of questions about carb cycling. It’s one of the newer eating strategies and is getting more popular. Do I recommend it? Not really. It’s a much more advanced method than most other strategies and requires strict tracking and constant modifications along the way. There are endless variations for every goal and unless you really know your body and are very good at tracking, you’ll have trouble sustaining it . That being said, some people respond very well to it so I made some basic guidelines to follow if you really want to give it a shot and see how your body responds . To lose fat, you need to eat less than you burn and you want enough protein. The low carb days will amplify your caloric deficit and the high carb days will give you energy to workout and allow you to enjoy more carbs (make it more sustainable) - Make sure you keep your protein around 1 g/ lb of BW and vary your fat vs. carb levels : Try to get 2 of your workouts in on the high carb days . Gaining muscle while carb cycling. Here you need to be in a «gentle» caloric surplus. Still get in that 1 g of protein/ lb of BW and allow the fat and carb levels to fluctuate. Again, try to get your workouts in on high carb days . Please keep in mind that there are MANY variations of carb cycling. Some stagger high/low/no carb days and some have low/no carb days stacked together. Unless you are extremely advanced, don’t worry about this stuff at all. Seriously .
