I discovered pineberries last year and oh my gosh, they’re so delicious! They’re a strawberry cultivar but the colouring is back to front with white flesh and red seeds. It’s got to be one of the most tropical flavoured fruits that you can easily grow at home. I saved the runners from my four original plants and potted them up after work in my bargain £6 pots from @gumtreeuk so I’m looking forward t even more fruit this year. I get so used to winter that the first sunny spring days take me by surprise. I forget that it can feel warm again and delight in the idea of SUN. Its also a reminder that it’s only four months until the garden looks like this again -- minus the herb bed in front. I'm moving the chamomile and calendula to the home garden this year along with most of the cut flowers. The bed in the front will most likely be filled with cabbages by the end of next month

Dieses Jahr muss ich leider auf die tolle Mandelbäumchenblüte beim Hauseingang verzichten. Leider war #prunustriloba von der Moniliaspitzendürre betroffen. Obwohl ich jedes Jahr nach der Blüte alle welken Triebe rausgeschnitten habe, wurden es zunehmend mehr. Nun habe ich den Strauch auf den Stock zurückgesetzt und hoffe er treibt wieder gesund aus. Today, planted out from last year's harvest: 3 "saved onion bulbs". . . These 3 (my best 3) were chosen from last year's harvest specifically for the purpose of seed making. . . When you do save for seed making: Save and plant out the following Spring, 2 or more bulbs, next to each other (12cm apart), and not only will it provide you, your own seeds around late summer but the flowers produced are really pretty too. They have been mistaken for ornamental allium flower heads. . . Like my tray in the background, these onions seedlings were started from my own saved seeds last year. So the cycle repeats. Just planted out these sprouted onion bulbs. . . You see, I haven't bought ANY onion seeds or sets this year. Every little helps towards: Save your own, grow your own. . .
