always a reason to eat cake for breakfast ✨especially a single serve chocolate chip cookie dough mug cake had so much fun baking (& eating) this gooey chocolate chip goodness- made with only a few simple ingredients, all found at my local @freshthyme market.

ingredients:
1/2 cup sweet potatoe purée
1/4 cup almond flour
1 egg
1/4 cup organic apple sauce
4 tbsps organic peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
5ish drops of stevia
dash of himalayan pink salt
1/2 cup @lilys_sweets_chocolate chocolate chips

instructions:
1️⃣ preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2️⃣ using a mixer, mix all ingredients (besides the chocolate chips) thoroughly until a fluffy texture is reached. taste test the batter to make sure it’s sweetened to your preference (feel free to add more stevia if need be!).
3️⃣ gently fold 1/2 of the chocolate chips into the batter.
4️⃣ spray a small ceramic baking dish with coconut oil cooking spray. pour batter in, top with remaining chocolate chips, and bake for ~35-40 minutes.

With my half marathon coming up this Saturday I thought I would share some running tips I’ve been using these last 16 weeks! ♀️⠀

1⃣strengthen your whole body: your arms drive your legs! ⠀
2⃣stay hydrated! ⠀
3⃣stretch stretch stretch! Before your run, after, in the morning, before bed - make sure you are getting your stretching in no matter what!⠀
4⃣find a solid routine that works for you ⠀
5⃣refuel your body immediately post run - my go-to is a strawberry banana coconut water smoothie ⠀
6⃣focus on proper form - trust me form matters! ⠀
7⃣fuel your body with whole foods ⠀
8⃣get in your sprints and hills!!!⠀
9⃣be patient - stop chasing for that PR every single run make it fun! Run with friends or have a solid playlist to get you through those longer runs ⠀

My body’s not the same as it once was.
I used to work out 6x a week. I did cross fit. I ran. I lifted heavy.
Now, I have a 5k walkathon next week that I legitimately have to prepare my body for. I used to run miles on miles everyday just for fun, and now I have to practice how to walk 3.1.
I could be frustrated that my body’s basically back to phase one. I could feel ashamed that I’m not as physically capable as I once was. I could see it as a blow to my confidence.
I could easily give in to these thoughts, but I know what I should do instead.
I should be gentle with myself. I should understand that my body is simply at a different phase right now. I should listen to it and meet it where it’s at. And should I take my time and my body into consideration.
My body’s not the same as it once was, and I’m learning that that’s okay. My body has been through hell and back. I may not be able to lift the weights or run the distances that I once could, but, in a different kind of way, my body’s stronger than ever after all that it’s gone through.
So, it’s a choice that I have to make. I could choose to be angry at my body, but I think I’ll choose to love it instead. I’ll choose to love it for all that it’s done and all that it still can do. It may not be the same, but aren’t we meant to change?
