Looking for a way to improve your bar path in the Snatch AND gain confidence in your overhead squat? The Muscle Snatch + Snatch Balance variation is a good opportunity to tackle both aspects of the Snatch!
-
First, it requires that you bring the bar into an optimal power position. You need to keep your shoulders over the bar, making sure that you push through the middle of your foot while keeping your arms sufficiently relaxed. If you engage the arms too early, the bar will not accelerate out of the power position.
Second, this gives us an opportunity to work on our arm mechanics. Make sure that your elbows continue to rise to a 90 degree angle before transitioning into your external rotation and punch overhead.
The Snatch Balance is an opportunity to work on the timing of your HANDS and HIPS. As the bar breaks from your shoulders, allow your hands to drive your hips down into a stable position. Your feet should make contact with the platform at the same time as your lock out overhead.
Give this a try in your next training session by working at 55% of your 1RM #Snatch for 4 sets of 1+2!

Even with a new trainer, some exercises remain in the training plan. I'm still snatching.
.
My current body weight is about 76 kg. But 135 kg feel quite good.

Trotz neuem Trainer bleiben einige Übungen im Trainingsplan. Gerissen wird immer noch.

Mein Körpergewicht liegt aktuell bei etwa 76 Kg. Dafür fühlen sich die 135 kg recht gut an.

HOW DIFFERENT LIFTERS SQUAT!
-
What’s up, Achievers?! @jasonlpak with the squat version of our little deadlift parody we did last year.
-
We love all of these different modalities and we use all of them with the members of our gym! Whether you’re a powerlifter, Olympic lifter, mover, bodybuilder, crossfitter, kettlebell girevik, functional lifter, gymnast, etc. y’all are all amazing and your modalities are all incredible.
-
Yet we find that there’s so much unnecessary hate and negativity and elitist sarcasm toward one another.
-
Clearly, all of the methodologies mentioned above “work” and they work extremely well at not only improving a person’s health and fitness but their overall mental wellbeing as well.
-
Even if some of the minutia don’t jive well with your approach, there’s absolutely no reason why we shouldn’t all learn from each other, and support and share with one another.
-
Whatever kind of lifter you are, we respect the heck out of you - keep doing your thing, and we hope that you also are open to exploring what other lifters are doing as well!
-
Tag a friend and tell them what kind of lifter they remind you of!
-
Until next time, Peace, Love, and Muscles! ✌️

Meet recap: Ended with a 72kg(148lbs) snatch and 94kg(207lbs) clean and jerk not my best, but every meet is a learning experience. My session was later in the day than I've ever had, and since the venue was so close to home, I didn't take the whole day off work and did a little in the morning (unlike my usual meets where I'm solely focusing on the meet). It was great practice with different situational circumstances, and I proved to myself that I can still lift pretty well when regardless of the circumstances being different than normal. Thank you @ohheyjon for counting for me and @vehement.elite.athletics.vc for putting on a fun local meet!! .
