Finally hit 135 for 2 on squats without a spotter. This time last year I was scared to put weight on the bar at all. My biggest fear has always been re-injuring my back. Don’t live out of fear. #girlswholift #girlswithtattoos #lifting #legday #lifter #girlswhosquat #squats #liftingmotivation #brokenback #spinalfusion #fearless #gymlife #gymaholic #fitness #fitnessgirl #fitnessaddict #cnc #curvesncombatboots #curvesandcombatboots
look mom, no neck brace!! i’ve been kind of torn between feeling proud of the progress i’ve made and frustrated with how sick i still am. can anyone relate? this trip hasn’t come without challenges, but it has been my favorite medical trip we’ve had to do rhode island is so beautiful, and i’m thankful that i’ve been able to experience some of that! even just driving along the coastline is amazing. also, this shirt is from @graceandbrace ,you should check them out!! my sweet friend @itsapotsielifeforme gifted it to me
Happy Monday! Come at ya hot from my bed! Today marks 1 week since I got home from the hospital. I've had some really good days and some really hard ones. Each day is definitely different and poses new challenges. I am trying so hard to stay focused on each day and not let the unknowing end result of all of this overwhelm me but if I'm honest it's HARD. Like really hard! I pray consistently, read inspirational books and have journaled a bit. I want so badly to fully trust God in all of this and I would be lying to say I did because my actions and thoughts at times paint a different story....But I'm striving towards that full trust with my whole heart!❤ #spinalfusion #trusttheprocess #letgoandletGod .

P.s - Yes, this is the same room I posted last week just looks different. I ordered some new pillow covers from @potterybarn on major sale and my mom was kind enough to put the inserts in and place them where I wanted them. Also my husband brought down one of our sofa tables from upstairs to place behind this couch and rearranged a few things, all while I dictated from my walker! True story! What a good sport and here I am trying to keep my mind from going insane being in bed most of the day. Maybe you amazing friends and the communication on here will help;) Truly grateful for you all!! The prayers and Dms have been so incredibly helpful. I am grateful. Xo Have a blessed week!!!! .

This is the first picture taken post surgery that I actually saw myself in. My color was starting to come back. My face was filling in again. My eyes had started to brighten. But far bigger than that, I knew the hope behind that smirk that was stirring.
On this day, my best gals wheeled me in a wheelchair for the latter of our day. My body was still too weak to brave the miles of a Disney Day. I didn’t even have to admit it; Nathalie wordlessly scooped up a Disney wheelchair, made the name plate on the back to be as colorful and joyous as possible, and down I sat. Lauren pushed and off we went. (I’m tellin’ you...the magic of community is otherworldly.)
Two days later, I began my new beginning at the #1 Resort in the Florida Keys (holllaaaa, LORD!). My bad leg still visibly shaking during my first day’s stand-up meeting, I donned my new name tag and thanked God at the miracle of receiving it, scar and all.
In the last year and a half, I had the immense honor of leading a team of women whom I love dearly, while working alongside one whom I love dearly, too. I learned even more about F&B, even more about the event industry, even more about what exact words (and tone ) to use when soothing a nervous bride, and even more about myself.
My leader pointed out to me that when I began, I laid low. I stayed quiet. Now, she sees me stand and speak when it’s hard-when it’s far from popular. She sees me trust myself. I didn’t realize these changes until she pulled up that mirror and showed me. The reflection I had in my head of a sick, weak woman was gone. I see, more clearly every day, who God had in mind when He thought me up. Not in spite of the scar, but because of the scar.
Yesterday I gave my resignation notice. I’m taking a step back to focus on my health and happiness...and exciting things to come in the future for the Pfleiderer Family ♥️ I’ll still be a wedding fanatic, a hospitality geek, a foodie and a wino, and a swooner of people and the stories behind their smirks.
As always...BIG hugs to all. I love you all so stinkin’ much! I am always down for a good life chat (especially if it involves Mrs. Mac’s Key lime pie).
Yay! I was able to stand up today! Thank you so much for all your love and support. It means so much to me. I read every one of your messages and it made me cry knowing how much people care for me. ❤️ I’m doing very well! Also I have been doing my best to vlog my entire experience so that I can share with all of you who might have scoliosis and are curious about the surgery and recovery process. I’ll let you know when it is posted! Love you all ❤️ #scoliosis #scoliosissurgery #spinalfusion #straightspine
I found the updates my mom wrote on my EDS Facebook page. Today is 9 months postop full spine revision skull-L3. Idk how to describe it. It's weird reading her words. I can't imagine what it was like for my mom & dad.

"1:05 pm- Hi everyone, it's Karen (Meg's Mom). We're all in for a really long day. We arrived at the hospital at 5:30A.M. The team met with Meg & us prior to her being taken back to the O.R at 8:15. Her actual operation began around 10:15. We were told the procedure would take 12-14 hours. Please keep Meg, her Doc, Team & us in your thoughts & prayers as this is complicated & very delicate. For knowing all my daughter knows about going through this kind of procedure (she went through similar last year) she was very brave & calm. She is truly an example of courage, determination & grace under pressure
*
10:19 pm- Hi. Meg is still in surgery. They are now inserting the rods. Keep up the prayers, good wishes etc. They're so needed & appreciated. Thank you for all of your support in this journey.
(Side note: my mom didn't write I signal was lost to my L leg. It now makes much sense why prayers, good wishes etc. were very needed)
*
4:37 am- Meg's surgery is done & she is in ICU. Surgery was 13 1/2 hours. She's still intubated & sedated. She appears peaceful. We'll see what the morning brings. We've got about an hour or so before activity begins. Bring on the coffee!"

My parents are a crucial part of my med team. My parents support me so much. Nearly 24 hours after we arrived to the hospital my mom posted at 4:37 am on Oct. 31st I was out of surgery. They were awake the entire day & then some. The pic is me the morning of surgery. Everything moved so fast in preop I didn't get the chance to take a pic w/ my dad. Be thankful for those who support you in life. Remember not every body is as lucky. *
I wish recovery went better; 0 fault on my doctors. I just want to feel better, have ⬇️pain & walk.
*
I wrote this last Oct. "In a nutshell I'm booked for 14 hours for skull-L2 revision. Hopefully it doesn't take that long. All hardware will be removed. Stronger/more sturdy hardware will be place. T2 or T3 will be removed for proper alignment of my spine."
We are officially being discharged! Wahoo! I think I may have set the record for the fastest off the vent to out the door Countless Doctors and surgeons have said that they didn’t expect to see me WALK out never mind so soon. I even did the stairs
But now I just signed my freedom papers, and home we head! Wahoo! (Ouch!) Thank you so so much to the Coalition Against Pediatric Pain (and Friends) for the amazing Balloons!!!
They cheered me up on a day that really needed some cheer and have cheered everyone else since! The unicorn is a big favorite around here lemme tell ya! Let the recovery begin! ...
Tinkerbell update
Look who we busted out tonight...tinky!!!!! Dr. depto called us and gave us the great news, tink was stable enough to come home! This will be a little bit of rambling but stick with me.
Her urine culture came back as enterococcus again. So since this is the second time in a short period tink has had a UTI culture positive for this she’s on amoxicillin and this time she’s on it for a month. We’ve realized when stimulating her to pee she’s not fully emptying her bladder so urine is sitting in there, likely breeding bacteria. So we are switching to expressing her bladder to make sure it fully empties.
Her blood path results came back negative. Right now her anemia is not regenerative so we need to watch this. Her WBC is almost normal now. Her RBC and platelets are stable, one even came up 2 points.
The fever of unknown origin test has not come back yet.
Tink has been fever free for over 24 hours now. She’s on all oral meds. The edema in her legs is pretty much gone, now it’s just mostly in her jaw. The small spot on her face has shrunk down.
We are giving tink some time to heal before moving forward with her CT and spinal fusion. But that’s coming up and we need to raise another $7000 for that. If the swelling on her face doesn’t resolve by then they will CT her face as well. The girl just needs some time to heal right now.
Team Tinkerbell T-shirt’s will be being made soon...what color are you guys thinking you would like to see?
Please keep tink in your prayers.
We desperately need your help to pay for Tinkerbells unexpected hospitalization along with her scans and surgery.
We already have the MRI at $2000, hospitalization at $5000, she needs a CT again estimated $2000, and then spinal fusion surgery estimated $5000.
This seems like an exorbitant amount to spend on one foster kitten, and it is. But how can I look Tinkerbell in the eyes and tell her she’s not worth saving? I can’t. But I desperately need your help to save her! Donations have been slow and We will have to pay in full Please consider skipping that morning starbucks and donating just a few dollars towards *continued in comments*
