On another note, I had to take lovenox shots for my entire pregnancy with Brayden and for the 14 weeks we were pregnant with our second. I did not give myself a single shot! I was TERRIFIED! .

I tried once and sat in the bathroom for 30 min and I just couldn’t do it. I relied on my husband, my mom, and my sister to give them to me. .
.
Fast forward to now (after 4 years of infertility) and I am a pro at giving myself shots! I will admit, I’m a little (LOT) nervous to give myself the PIO shots!

This nearly drove me totally insane

In my late teens and early twenties my diet was far from healthy. I was a uni student and my diet consisted mostly of baked bean jaffles , McDonald’s and far too much sugar .
By the time I hit 22 I did a compete 180 and was a gym junkie , calorie tracking, results driven gal . I wouldn’t say my diet was 100% but it was a lot better than it had even been. I cut back on sugar, ate REAL food, you know the stuff that doesn’t come in packets and you have to cook yourself but I had a terrible relationship with food
.
Fast forward to now & over the last 2 years my diet has been close too 100% in terms of “text book healthy “ so something that really got me when I was first diagnosed with PCOS was that MY HEALTHY DIET WAS STILL AFFECTING MY PCOS It was causing many of my symptoms like mood swings, fatigue, bloating, anxiety. I remember being soo confused and thinking how? I don’t eat processed foods, I eat no sugar ? .
The thing is, eating for PCOS isn’t just about healthy eating , or following the “right diet”. I had really LISTEN and LEARN how my body was responding to food

HERE’S THE CHANGES THAT MADE THE DIFFERENCE
.
1️⃣ I went 100% gluten free (not as hard as I thought, there are great alternatives and I feel 10000x better)
Gluten causes inflammation in the body
.
2️⃣ Reduced my carb intake to my personal carb tolerance. I started at 150g and kept reducing the amount until I felt no fatigue/ bloating after eating or wasn’t left feeling hangry later in the day A low carb diet helps to manage insulin but you have to find the right amount for YOUR bODy (carb tolerance)
.
3️⃣ Ate an abundance of healthy fats and always then when having carbs (of any kind)
Healthy fats help to regulate hormones and keep blood sugar /insulin steady .
