Super scary anaphylaxis episode earlier tonight!! I was having a shower and I suddenly went into anaphylaxis, honestly thank god @tomharris.95 was there!! He reacted so so quick and got my Epi-pen & inhaler! Honestly don’t know what would have happened if he wasn’t there Guys it was so so scary! I honestly don’t know how some of you can deal with anaphylaxis everyday! Thank god it’s a rare occasion for me! Sorry I feel I’m being way too OTT & dramatic, it was just a super scary experience!
Also quick question how long does it take for you guys to return to feeling “normal” after epinephrine? And what side effects do you guys get? For me it’s a fast heart rate & headache, still feeling alittle rough but so so much better than I was! So thankful to be here writing this post tonight! So thankful for modern medicine & of course you guys! Thank you everyone! #anaphylaxis #epipen #allergic #allergicreaction
This is Madeleine. Madeleine just received the list of food allergies from the invitees to her child’s birthday party. Terrifying.
Madeleine is now contemplating moving said party from The Princess Sparkle Fairy Palace to an iron lung....or Siberia.
In the Age of Food Allergies, managing to throw a kids party or assembling a lunchbox without sending your little darling or their BFF spluttering to the emergency department requires a PhD in biochemistry, loins of steel and serious street smarts. Read my discoveries on tackling allergies today @9honey www.honey.nine.com.au or on the following pages. Link in the bio too. courtesy of audition self tape. See? I’m #recycling too. ** Edit: Cactus, Alpaca, and top left bag have sold**. 2019... I can’t believe another whole year has passed. It’s bittersweet really... I look back on this year and I see all of the wonderful things that I have done, but Its hard not to also see the things I didn’t do. I got to check off a lot of goals from my goal list, but I also had to leave a lot blank. .
This year was not the year and of us had expected or hoped for. I spent more time in hospital than at home. But I can’t deny that it was all worth it. The bad for the good. .
The things I have learned and the friends I have made this year are the kind that will l never leave you. I can’t remember ever being so content with myself. .
And with a new year came new hobbies! This year I learned to embroider and have quickly fallen fast and hard in love with it! I had big hopes for launching a big re-opening on etsy with all my new finished collections, but life got in the way... So I decided to just launch a sneak peek. Each piece is unique and took many many days. (I wish I could charge less, but I did not know what a labor of love embroidery would be ) DM me if interested, first come first serve. Larger bags (9” X 6”) are $45, small (8” X 4”) are $30. They will go up on etsy as soon as they get it running again. .
The idea behind it is to make carrying around medical stuff a little bit cuter. True fact, or at least from personal experience, if it’s cute, you are more likely to carry things around And carrying around something like an epipen or solu cortef can literally save a life. As you can see, most of these are aimed at injectables or blood sugar testing, but I hope to keep branching out and always LOVE new ideas and suggestions!
Did you know both sizes in our new VIVRA Lite range can hold 2 EpiPens?
.
Now you can be done with annoying belt bags and handbags ♀️
.
Due to the slimline design you can easily hide the VIVRA from view by covering it with your shirt, sweater or jacket or alternatively reveal it and use it to accessorise your outfit
.
No longer do we need to be ashamed or embarrassed of the bum bag!
.
**(Please remember that your EpiPens should not be subjected to temperatures outside of the safe range)

I’m very thankful for years of learning about my own food allergies because we had a scary moment with Ryker. He had a bite of my pasta and within minutes his face swelled up and was covered in hives. I gave him Benadryl and rushed to urgent care. Today we had an allergy test and he was super reactive to cashews and pine nuts. I’m glad my family knows about reading food labels and now we always have Benadryl and an epipen in our diaper bag. It was such a terrifying event to see. Any of you dealing with child food allergies?

Did you know? Used epipens still contain epinephrine after use. It is well known by wilderness medical experts that in an emergency situation, in a remote environment, it is possible to extract as many as 4 additional doses of epinephrine from a single auto-injector after the unit has been used in standard fashion.
.
There are techniques promulgated by the Wilderness Medical Society that address emergency cases of anaphylaxis when a second epipen is not available and a hospital is too far away. .
This information does not in any way lessen the importance of always having two epipens on hand. However, the more you know, the better prepared you can be in an emergency.
.
See our IGTV for a video by Dr. Julie Brown demonstrating the technique of retrieving additional epinephrine from a used epipen. Swipe left to see an excerpt.
.
In emergency cases of anaphylaxis encountered in a resource-deficient, or wilderness environment, it may be lifesaving to be able to retrieve additional doses of epinephrine from auto-injectors that are otherwise intended only for single dosage. The paper below describes a series of techniques, confirmed by practice and expert consensus of the authors, which are proposed as the safest and most effective way to accomplish this salvage retrieval. It is important to remember that these techniques are presented as emergency adaptations to a resource-deficient situation, and should not be used prospectively as an anticipated technique to manage biphasic anaphylaxis, or multiple anaphylactic patients. (Note: The reason for the extra epinephrine is to ensure reliability and durability of the medicine in the epipen.)

Today marks an important day in food labelling. Natasha’s law has been introduced to make food labelling more thorough.
It comes after Natasha Ednan-Laprouse died in 2016 after an allergic reaction to a sandwich she bought at @pret.
This legislation calls for all pre-packaged food to be clearly marked and carry a full list of ingredients. Not only will this help food allergy sufferers in the UK, but it will also help those who suffer distressing symptoms of a food intolerance. This protects all people in the UK who need to make safe food choices! #foodallergy #allergy #foodintolerance #foodintolerances #epipen #foodawareness #natashalaw #foodallergylife #foodallergyawareness #allergyfriendlyfood #foodallergyfriendly
