I first connected with @jasmijnfokker over a year ago when she messaged me about how to get to a spot I photographed in Barcelona. We stayed in contact chatting about photography stuffs. Her and her boyfriend @bart.graph are super awesome creatives out of The Netherlands, and drove down to Brussels the weekend I was there to take photos for a day. My favorite part of international travel is connecting with likeminded people in this way. Whatever you’re into, I’d recommend using social media on your next trip to connect with people where ever you’re going who also jive to that thing. Be it yoga, running, CrossFit, recreational sweeping, whatever. It can really make a trip.

I’m back! Both to Instagram after a 3 month break and from the Netherlands where this pic was taken. I know it doesn’t look too busy in this shot but it’s just the angle... It was soooooo busy! It seemed like everybody was in the Netherlands for Easter! ‘The whole country has been turned into a theme park,’ is what one Dutch person working in tourism said to me on the weekend after he’d been yelled at by a grumpy tourist the poor thing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m an advocate for travel but I’m also an advocate of respecting locals. We went to the famous tulip park Keukenhof and the tulip fields on our trip. They were some of the most beautiful places I’ve been, but it’s true that there were so many tourists treating them as a theme park. People were running through the flowers and while I didn’t see it apparently people even lie down in them... all just to get a good shot for the ‘gram. I got plenty of shots which I’ll share with you, but as you’ll see you don’t need to go into the fields for a good shot. The tulip farmers are proud of their stunning flowers and they kindly let us visit them for free... but if we don’t respect the flowers, they’ll end up having to close them off and none of us will get to enjoy their beauty. And that would be a terrible thing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On a brighter note, these UNESCO windmills are a 30 minute boat trip away from Rotterdam and they’re beautiful.
