Scott) . The promise in this quote ...a sure way to eliminate the influence of the adversary... A SURE WAY. It's not just maybe or it will decrease. But a sure way to eliminate. Remove. Gone. Because I want the promise fulfilled, I'm willing to put forth the required effort. . Family History is not a chore. It is not just for a generation older than you. It is not something you do when you happen to have time or your kids are older. Family History is a blessing. It is easy (because of FamilySearch and previously indexed records). It connects families. And it changes lives. Specifically it has changed my life. . I was that person who did not want anything to do with family history. I was certain it was done because my parents were family history missionaries and my aunt and my sister and my grandpa and etc. At least in my experience, it is not done. And those on the other side are praying for one family member to make the time to find them. I wish I had more time I could spend doing family history. Right now, I only have small windows of time. But it is always time well spent!! . P.S. pretend the boxes are filled in with names. I didn't want to list the names publicly so just pretend. Haha. I LOVE how this little family tree turned out!! It took awhile to draw but it was worth it! I used Sakura Pigma Micron, Sharpie Art Pens and Prismacolor Pencils.

How wonderful it is to see a photo of my great-grandparents (my Dad's grandparents) in Baltimore, Maryland in the 1920's-30's. Thanks to my sister, who's been doing some great detective work with her genealogy studies!

We all love long-ago and far-away stories. And we are innately captivated by the adventure and excitement of times past. And children, even more so. . . A few weeks back I was recounting the story of my grandmother and how she courageously fled India with her cousins at the timid age of 14 during the partition of India and Pakistan. Easily the highlight of our geography study this year. We called up my parents and my husband's mother who are from Pakistan and composed a narration exercise trying our best to record all the riveting details. It motivated me to write a snippet about our roots and the importance of family history. Joining me in this conversation are: . @throughmamaseyesblog @nurturing.learners @mylifes.canvas @kazimawajahat . . The history of a family is passed on through the telling of its stories. All families have a unique history composed of milestone events. Grandparents, more than anyone else, are the keepers of these family stories. They are the living bridge between the past and future of a family with the view of a wide landscape of generations. Through these stories, children develop a sense of belonging and family pride. They not only learn about the beliefs, principles and values of a family, but the stories help them and us understand why we are where we are today. Enriching us and granting us with heroes from our own families with whom to identify with, to aspire to emulate and give us direction. . My children might not be able to hear the story from my grandmother in person as she is sadly not here with us anymore (may God shower His mercy upon her and love to meet her as she loved to meet Him). We may never face the same difficulties that our beloved grandparents and ancestors did but I hope to God that we can keep their stories alive. To be remembered, treasured, and incorporated into the spirit of our family. .
