Hollywood has shown me so many examples of kids growing up with parents who are very pro-active in expressing their love towards each other, be it hugs, kisses, or simply holding hands... And in my household, the situation was a total contrast. My dad is not very much into PDA, which as a kid used to make me wonder, is expressing your love after marriage something only limited to movies? Does love start fading once you get married and have children? After growing up, it's only now that I realize that that's not true. Looking back on all the times, I now remember, my parents had their own way of expressing their love and support for each other. Something as small as Dad taking mom's side when I had a fight with her (yeah that's a bummer when you are an only child ) or how Mom forcing Dad to buy something for himself at least once a while, or how she used to wait for him to come home from work so that they can enjoy "shaam ki chai" together... In love, there's no wrong or right, you just have to put efforts and find out what works for you. Many years ago, behind those rocks, there was a man-made stream that brought water for watering the fields, washing and drinking. It ran next to what are now the ruins of a traditional, two-story, stone house which my dad was born in and lived the first few years of his life. My mom told me this morning as we were having coffee on this bench, that my grandma (her mother-in-law,) used to tie a rope on my dad’s leg, long enough to barely let his feet splash in the water so he can be entertained while she did chores.⠀ ⠀ What chores, you ask? Not much. Keeping a house with no running water inside, tending to livestock and the fields, turning raw foods into byproducts (yogurt, cheese, butter, flour, etc.,) cooking, washing clothes by hand, making clothes, cleaning, raising kids, and taking care of extended family (in-laws) living in the same house.⠀ ⠀ That was just two generations ago. So yes, I’m a “katunare” (country girl) and so damn proud of it. So are my kids. They just don’t know it yet! And so will be every new generation for as long as they know where they came from. Wczoraj miałam dość dziwna sytuacje na plaży. Amelka jadła sobie spokojnie zapiekankę i podchodzi do niej jakiś facet... chciał zapalać ją za rękę i przywitać się... ? moja reakcja była natychmiastowa „proszę nie dotykać mojego dziecka”! . Facet zaskoczony moją reakcją. Powiedziałam mu, że moje dziecko to nie maskotka do dotykania przez obcych ludzi, wiec ma się odsunąć. . Możecie sobie wyobrazić, że ni stad, ni zowąd jakiś koleś podchodzi z piwem w ręku do waszego dziecka zastanawiam się niby w jakim kuzwa celu . Potem wyszła ostara wymiana zdań aż do tego stopnia, że facet zaczął mnie obrażać . Może moja reakcja była zbyt pochopna, a może i nie, ale odrazu włączył mi się alert niebezpieczeństwa . . Potem okazało się, że to był gościu, który z kolegami leżał parawan obok nas, ale nie zmienia to faktu, że po jaki kij do nas podszedł i zagaduje moje dziecko? . Powiem szczerze, że wystraszyłam się, jeszcze jakąś babunię bym zrozumiała, czy faceta, który ze swoim dzieckiem podchodzi się przywitać...
