We did a family photo shoot at the tulip festival and our sweet photographer said “can I hold your baby and take one of you two?!” • I don’t think we’ve had a “just us” photo since baby C joined us (because we are utterly in love with him and never not holding him ) but I’m SO glad she snapped a few. • Here’s the thing: as parents it’s *so* easy to be all-consumed with our sweet little human(s) and forget about the stuff that makes us *us*. Sky high in Colorado #mccoysundaybest A little McCoy Family update: . John: Somehow, the guy who refused to eat anything but PBJ's + Kraft singles (in the same sandwich) has transformed into THE. BEST. gourmet chef. He made the yummiest b-fast, lunch, AND dinner today...in other words, all my dreams have officially come true. . I spent the morning at Insta-Care for what is maybe a giant zit, possibly an infected bug bite...either way it was embarrassing, but got myself started on some antibiotics and am mostly good. . Wyatt: My 1st born babe is exactly a 1/2 inch shorter than me. He eats non stop (like NONSTOP), refuses to cut his hair, and refuses to hug me. Okay, if I bribe him with food I can get a sorta half-side-pat-hug thing, but it nearly kills him. . Cole: also eats all the things all the time, and wears the same tshirt every day. Like every single day til I threaten death. Then he washes it and wears it again. It says 'Hogwarts' on it so can't really blame him. . Macie: My poor dolly is fully recovered from the toxic milk bath and received her highest scores to date at her meet yesterday. She still brushes my hair for me every night so for sure is my fav. . Tessa: Our resident crazy lost her first tooth this week and received $1 from the tooth fairy. She is proud as can be, shows everyone we encounter her new gap, and keeps asking when we are going to celebrate. . Jean: 3 is absolutely the new 2 and we are all terrified of baby girl's wrath. This week she spotted the tooth fairy sneaking around our place and informed us it is pink with sparkly wings.

‘Music exists to speak the words we can’t express’ • • The fall of my senior year of high school, my family spent many weekends driving to Minneapolis to visit my cousin Jamie as she underwent a lung transplant. Often, we would get tired of the radio stations and would switch to a Garth Brooks CD my mom kept in the console. I knew probably half the words to one of his songs when we started visiting her, but after that fall, I knew the majority of the songs by heart. • • As fall ended and winter came, Jamie passed away, and I still remember that day, driving home from the hospital after seeing her for the last time, and the car was so quiet. Except the CD playing. And every song felt like it was about her somehow. • • 2.5 years later, we drove to Minneapolis again just to see him perform and as we listened to him, sang along, and enjoyed each other’s presence, memories happy and sad flooded my mind. • • I’m so grateful for all music, including his.
