The other day, in an attempt to have a tranquil moment at home, I turned to my trusty sidekick and said: “Alexa, play children’s meditations.” You guys, she had nothing. BUT thankfully we have the Big World of Little Dude BRAIN VACATION. I believe in the power of meditation and alllll of its benefits and I also believe children should be aware of this mind~body~spirit connection from an early age. . “One 2004 study found that children with ADHD who learned meditation with their parents twice weekly in a clinic setting, and kept practicing at home, had better concentration at school, among other benefits.” -Forbes (I’ll link the full article in stories for those interested) . Not only does this calming story speak directly to kids, including meditations and affirmations to practice at home, it also explains a bit about the brain, how and why we meditate. ❤️ Such a good story.... #Repost @itstimetobloom ・・・ Something magical happened lately that we just had to share. We both started meditating with our 2yr old daughter in the room, at first we instantly became her jungle gym to laugh and play with us while we were trying to be quiet, our response to her was warmth, smile and we kept going. After just a week of creating a little structure around the practise, I.e we do it at the same time everyday, she has now started to sit and be still with us! Even for small moments in time, 30 seconds, 10 seconds, at 2, we will take whatever we get and she’s right there with us meditating. It’s heart melting to see and experience, structure and unconditional warmth is all a little child needs to grow. The rest can easily be figured out. We miraculously have a very energetic 2yr old meditating with us. Slowly but surely, not everyday works, but the structure of it helps create the pattern for her and us to make this a family practise. Today is the perfect day to get started.
