I think they should be used sparingly. I think most dialogue tags can be replaced with action beats! Action beats not only give you some great "showing" instead of telling, they also are a chance to put in characterization and world-building. . . What do you think? . . . Yay! I've been so excited for this prompt in #fantasyWIPMay! Obviously, I need to start playing D&D again! Quinn is definitely Neutral Good (or what this chart calls Tempered Good.) Although occasionally his emotions get the best of him, he's usually quite methodical and balanced. He can be chaotic when he needs to be and lawful when the situation calls for it. Amarice, the Sage, is 1000000% Chaotic Good. She will do whatever it takes to do the right thing. And that's where a lot of the conflict is coming from in The Consort's Journey. My favorite alignment chart . . #fantasywipmay asks for our characters alignment, #dnd style, and I love it (though I'm always wobbly on alignment). FYI, my SO and I met because we joined the same DnD group! . . Galahad: Easiest by far. He's Lawful Good. He will help people in need, but it has to be under specific terms and conditions. Feya: Chaotic Neutral. I mentioned before that Feya could have easily been the Wild Queen instead, under different circumstances. She's on the "good guys" side because the Wild King went too far. Sirius: Neutral Good. He's mostly focused on the elves, but he does care about others as well, and he tries to help whenever possible. Elise: True Neutral. She's more being dragged into this situation. If no one had dragged her into it, she would never have joined the cause. Lark: *gasp* what's this? A new POV?!? Yeah, Lark uh, got added in for reasons Anyway, Lark is probably the hardest Chaotic Neutral maybe? Or Chaotic Good. Basically, they try to do good, but uh, sometimes their methods ... Hello Lilacs! ✨❤️❤️✨ • #fantasywipmay QOTD: fantasy author icons • AOTD: while there are a lot of good book series that have come out in recent years and a lot of amazing fantasy author icons in the making, I think it’s safe to say that JK Rowling created a fantasy legend with her books. I’ll always be partial to anything Tamora Pierce, but I’d also say Sarah Maas, whether you love her or don’t care for her books (I know some people don’t) has become a massive icon in the fantasy world as well. I’d also put Brandon Sanderson on that list even though I have yet to read anything of his! • Who else do you consider a fantasy author icon?
