You guyssssss HAPPY T-SHIRT TUESDAY!!!
RESTOCK ALERT the day many of you have been waiting for...we are FINALLY restocked in our very popular “Ask Me About My Farm Story” t-shirts!
If you’re on my email list, you got a message a few hours ago that announced this good news. If not, go get on it so you don’t miss the next announcement!
They’ve been up on the website for about 3 hours, and I’ve already sold 3 shirts. If you want one, ya gotta go get one ASAP!
I want them in all 50 states, and we’re at 19 so far. Which state will I fill in next #TheFarmStory
CULVER’S y’all know I love ice cream, and I love supporting agriculture. ESPECIALLY youth in agriculture!
Today is “Scoops of Thanks Day” at @culvers and I am so excited about it! One scoop of custard is $1 and by enjoying a $1 scoop of ice cream, you’re making a donation to your LOCAL FFA chapter
I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again...Culver’s, THANK YOU for supporting agriculture with positive messages, campaigns, and donating to our youth organizations. It means more to all us aggies than you’ll ever know!
If you have a Culver’s near you, I HIGHLY suggest you get some ice cream today to support both the dairy industry and @nationalffa #TheFarmStory
“Oh gosh, I’m sorry honey. See, that’s why I don’t touch those things. Ya can’t trust em!!” - Dad talking about computers when I told him I deleted a blog post I’ve been writing for 3 days
Today wasn’t “bad.” As long as I’m still breathing and on this side of heaven, I don’t really know if I believe in “bad” days. Today was, however, frustrating. Just one of those days, ya know?
Doing evening chores and checking heat with my favorite cowboy made all the frustrations of the day disappear. Singing dumb songs, making fun of the squirrels in the road, and listening to the Cardinals on the radio are also things that happened
A frustrating day on the farm is still WAY better than a good day anywhere else #TheFarmStory
Life is SO much better on gravel who agrees with me?
Views from my run on my favorite gravel road this morning Feeling very thankful that my daily life includes things like this, and that I have a body that allows me to move the way I want it to! (Yes, that also includes gasping for air )
Happy Sunday, friends! Do something today that sets you up for tackling the week ahead #TheFarmStory
BEFORE WE ENTER INTO WHAT IS GOING TO BE OUR BUSIEST MONTH in #heirloomla history , I want to give tribute to a sweet little wedding from last weekend. This event was super special because it was for our beloved @fpproducehunter’s daughter. For those of you who go to @smfms, you know that Karen is the biggest champion of the small farmers there. Our food industry has a rigid “Health Department” but no formal “Farm Department”, and doesn’t the integrity of food start there? In my mind it does, which is the mission our company was founded on, but who is policing that? I have always liked to do my own homework on the ingredients we source, but when I can’t, which is mostly the case now, I defer to Karen. She is our Farm Dept. She is the voice I, and so many other #losangeles food makers trust to give weekly seasonal availability and to alert us as to what is special or what we should incorporate into our menus. She lets us know new farmers to be aware of and why. Were it not for Karen, I may never have known of @koda_farms for example. To me brown rice was brown rice, but she informed me, tenderly, as to the error in my thinking, and we have been using it for years now, it’s creamy texture enriching even our risotto dishes. If you should encounter her, she will cheerfully give you a Wikepedia rundown of any farmer you care to know about, how they water, what cover crops they use, where they get their seeds, why the flavor is different from the previous season, etc. She has tactfully, gracefully interrogated every single one of them on their turf with dark, earthy soil in her boots. So to be chosen by her to cook for the most important event of her child’s life was an honor to the highest degree. In fact, it goes down as my proudest #teamheirloomla moments. I feel like without knowing it and over time, we have been investigated in the same way #socal farmers are by Karen, and we got the nod. I love you dear Karen. You are a mentor to me and most valuable advisor to our entire team. Gratitude and respect always. #vendorlove #weddingfood

Around here, we’re big on t-shirts. Like, real big. We sell shirts that day “ask me about my farm story” on the back. They’re designed to start conversations about agriculture in everyday locations. ☀️
Our goal is to get one in all 50 states. After the first round we hit 19 (green states on the map!)...and I am STILL blown away by this. Many of you have wanted to get your hands on one but we’ve been sold out I’m re-ordering TODAY, so new shirts are on the horizon!
☀️
These shirts have been SO FUN so far, and I can’t wait to see where else they end up and what conversations they will start #TheFarmStory
