Are you an influencer? Yes? No? -- Why (or why not?)? Rather, do you consider yourself to be an influencer? @wordonthegrapevine has an *excellent* read up about this very subject, that I just read this morning. ☝️ Related/some semi-unrelated bits around this: *It depends on your definition. Are you referring to celebrities with sponsored posts (?), or smaller individuals who are getting paid to pose with a product (?), or, are you referring to someone who has an engaged audience (who has an impact on a given area)? *Know your area and brand: Most people, if I ask (or they tell me), associate me with Finger Lakes wine; which, yes, is *most* of my goal. I drink wine from other places, but don’t post it as much. This is intentional. By posting other wines, it’s an additional area that more people might relate to or know, while still maintaining an overall focus here, FLX. *This is not my full-time job (or my personal account), I just do it when I can. I give a glimpse of “real life” in stories, more, but the posts focus on wine, food, travel, etc. But mainly the wine. *I write for two sites, maybe three, soon, specifically about Finger Lakes wine, but it might expand to more areas around wine. I’ve been labeled a writer, wine writer, blogger, guest blogger, instagrammer, winestagrammer,  wine reviewer, aficionado, enthusiast, more; but at the end of the day, I’m a communicator. A storyteller, sometimes. And, this is the medium/channel that my audience chooses to engage with best/most. *Know your numbers and audience: I’m not huge, I know this, this is fine with me. But I know most of my followers (70%) are within ten years of me. I know I reached 10,000 people last week, but sometimes it’s double or triple that. We all know, in this space, it fluctuates a lot. I know that many of my followers want to be “engaged” here, on this platform, in a deliberate way. Curious to know your thoughts? If I’ve been able to tell you a story about the wine, about the people, about why I enjoy it, the process, or more, then I’m comfortable being labeled an influencer. But I’m also comfortable with being a storyteller, or just a communicator.
