This is our message. This is what I want to scream from the mountain tops. This is what the world needs to hear. - It’s Never Too Late. - I am 59 years old. I struggled my whole life with my weight, but I finally changed how I feel, how I move, how I look, and how strong I am, all in my 50s. - And I REALLY want you to know you can do it too. - And before you think there is no way you could do that, I want you to know: - ➡️I am no one special. I am a plain 'ole regular person. - ➡️I am not blessed with “good genetics”, unless you consider heart disease and obesity good genetics. I am very aware of my family history and work every single day to break the cycle. - ➡️I am not a gifted athlete. Far from it. Yeah, I rocked a little coed flag football back in the day (I rushed the QB like nobody’s business), but that’s pretty much it. I was a musician, not an athlete. - So how did I “do it"? - ✅I eventually surrounded myself with the right people, and a coach who cares enough to push me out of my comfort zone almost daily. Love you @syattfitness. - ✅I dialed in my nutrition.I found a nice modest calorie deficit and stayed with it. I was consistent and I didn’t quit when the going got tough, and it did get tough. - ✅I didn’t focus so much on losing weight as much as I did on getting as strong as possible in the gym. I gave myself goals, like being able to do chin ups, increasing my deadlift, getting my shoulders as strong as possible. - There were no magic formulas. No shortcuts. I just worked hard, and still work hard every day. - And here’s the thing. YOU can do it too. - So no more thinking it’s too late for you. Age has zero to do with you attaining your goals. Get up, dust yourself off, and decide it’s time. Raising daughters is a very special challenge. I always taught them that beauty lies within. You can use make up to alter your appearance but it’s what inside that truly counts. July 2017 & July 2019 ~ Hi, my name is Tricia, and I’m a #gymjunkie. The gym became my feel good sanctuary many years ago. It was my escape from boys, school, work and later from marriage and children. It’s consistently been the one place on this planet where Tricia is just Tricia. ~ In 2017, after my cancer diagnosis, the gym once again proved to be my safe place. I’d literally forget all about the cancer, the treatments and about being bald without lashes or eyebrows while I worked out. ~ The feelings of empowerment and stress relief are only a few of the mental and physical benefits of exercise. It positively effects everything. ~ Today, I’m certainly happy to have my hair again, but I also find great comfort in knowing that no matter what lies ahead, I’ll always have the gym and my workouts to help get me through it.~ So my friends, find something that works for you. There’s an infinite list of ways to be active.
