️‍♀️ Lower Body Foam Rolling ‍♀️⁣ ⁣ If one of your New Year’s Resolutions is to focus more on your mobility and recovery, start making love to a foam roller regularly. Can’t just be a one-night stand- this is a long-term relationship. ⁣ ⁣ No one likes to do mobility work- at first. But if you keep at it, you’ll see more PRs and less recovery time. Everyone likes that, right ⁣ ⁣ If you’re looking to break up adhesions and loosen tight muscles, roll all over that thing. Do it right before your workout if you’re feeling especially tight, or save it for when you’re super sore afterwards. Spend about 30-60 seconds rolling over each area, focusing on the tender spots. ⁣ ⁣ To really help those tight muscles relax, find a tender spot and put all your weight on it. If your face isn’t contorting in pain you ain’t doing it right. Your body isn’t gonna want to let you rest on that sore spot, but make it. As you continue to apply pressure, the muscle will begin to rapidly contract and then eventually release. ☺️⁣ ⁣ You could spend $100 on one from Lululemon, or you can go to Lowe’s and get a piece of 4” PVC pipe for $5. Both do the same thing, one’s just prettier. ⁣ ⁣ Try it for a few days and let me know how you feel!

My dude @camsandland14 going through a different variation of rotation here. I elevated his upper leg to ensure he doesn’t rotate from his lumbar and his focus is on his rib cage and Thoracic. He shouldn’t be able to get flat shoulders here cuz sometimes it’s not how far you can rotate it’s are you rotating properly. Not sure why so fuzzy.... maybe it’s best that way because this is the “Before” picture! • • 24 weeks until summer... time to kick it into high gear! • It has been 8 months since I have been to the gym more than 2-3x/week and since I have actually lifted some weight. I’m sure even though I say I haven’t gained weight, without being tested, I know I have lost some muscle... which is okay because I can gain it back quickly!• • Over these next 24 weeks, it is going to be a slow and progressive process. Tight back? Try this morning routine By @michaeluptonpt Back pain is a troublesome little thing I encounter with a lot of my clients. The problem I see is time and time again they address the soft tissue straight away (Whilst this can help) you need to address why the pain is happening. What I’ve learnt over the last couple years is back pain rises from weak core and glutes, poor mobility in the thoracic spine and hip flexors and also having terrible postural awareness. I must make it abundantly clear, there is not one single cause of pain nor is there a single fix to back pain. This circuit should only take 10 minutes and perform it every morning if you wish but realistically try for 3 days a week. 1️⃣ After performing some tissue work to temporary relief the pain start mobilising your hip flexors as they are commonly tight and can put your pelvis in an abnormal place. To do this use the rear foot elevated hip flexor stretch: with 10 each side. ❌Do not lean forward and arch your back ✅Squeeze your booty ✅Maintain a good posture and stay upright. ✅Need more of a stretch lift hand up to target Psoas muscle. 2️⃣ Mobilise your thoracic spine with the thoracic curl roll. Refer to the picture but main thing is warm up to this only go at your own pace and stop if you experience pain. Perform up to 10 each side. 3️⃣ Punish and strengthen your glutes to take the pressure of your knees and back. Perform the banded crab walk and glute bridge refer to YouTube and type in these workouts they’ll be on there . Perform 10 each side. 4️⃣Wake up your core. Before any physical activity you should be waking up your core to strengthen it throughout the day and take pressure of back and knees. Perform the plank holding 10 seconds on each side. 5️⃣Start creating good postural awareness for the day ahead ✅Perform this circuit 2-3 times each morning and let us know how your back feels if it does not progress contact your GP to book in with a professional.
