Shonda Rhymes created Meredith Grey. POC know you, white people, but you don’t know us and it shows. Even more, in some books? It shows you’re comfortable in a world where we don’t exist, but you still have the benefits of our culture. ⠀ ⠀⠀ Popular authors that are now on a mission to be woke to satisfy a well established readership group aren’t “risking” anything to be inclusive. You’re not making a statement, you’re marketing. ‍♀️ Because when white authors are inclusive it’s not only a selling point, they have to let everyone know they did a thing like we’re fucking unicorns readers should play Where’s Waldo to find in their books. ⠀ ⠀⠀ White authors are mediocre wanting participation trophies for including POC in their fiction. Here's to the last of my December photo and a mark to end the 2018! The next time I'll post would be in 2019 so I hope you are around then Haha. . . 2018 taught me so many things. This has probably been the most lesson-filled year I have ever had. One of the best things I learned was to learn how to love myself more. And I am not talking about it for the sake of just saying it. I really do mean it. There was a month long period this year that brought me to the edge. I felt my mental health declining to the point that I had the thought of going to a doctor multiple times to seek help. It never pushed through. I have always been afraid of diagnosis. But it is because of that fear that I slapped myself back to reality and learned to gather the strength I needed to continue walking with my face held high. I learned the importance of taking a breather. I learned who my real friends are. Most importantly, I learned self-confidence. . . 2018 has been the most challenging year to date. Financially. Emotionally. Mentally. It was all exhausting to exist in 2018. But I am glad to say I am not about to end this year still tired. I am rejuvenized, in fact. I feel more focused than I have ever been. I feel like 2019 could be the year wherein my goals become more solid. 2019 is gonna be the year where I become more stable about everything. . . I hope you all feel the same. I hope what I feel can be shared and passed and spread out to all of you. Congratulations for making it this far. For being able to still carry with you a heart that loves and forgives and sacrifices. I pray you never get tired of your heart. It is the most essential thing. . . Happy New Year my bookworms. I AM SOOOOOO OBSESSED with The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina from Netflix! I have been watching it ALL NIGHT and I JUST CANNOT STOP! The whole Philippines is in celebratory mood today because of Miss Universe! I, myself, have never been so happy for a contender as much as I am about Catriona Gray.
