Words can’t describe what it means to me to meet women from all over the world who have taken cancer by the horns and wrestled it to the ground. Cheers to all the previvors, patients and survivors who refuse to let cancer win. So. Many. Exciting. Projects. for 2019 and I am itching to share them with you!

Sitting waiting for my meeting with a member of the breast clinic team at Barnet Hospital and it feels like the time is standing still. No matter how many meetings or scans I have had, I can’t seem to shake the nervous feeling and butterflies in my stomach. I need to remind myself of why I am here and that this is MY choice. I have the opportunity to reduce my risk of breast cancer rather than wait to treat it and I am forever grateful to have been given the choice that many others didn’t have.

The long-awaited ultrasound was today. I am 5 weeks pregnant and that’s exactly what the ultrasound is measuring. They did not find a source of the bleed, although they did confirm my embryo is in my uterus! There’s so much that went into this process. Back in August 2018, I decided after having my yearly breast MRI that I was done. Done with having my breasts squeezed, done with putting chemicals into my body that could do more harm them good, done with waiting, wondering and stressing about when it would come. When I would hear those words that were pretty much inevitable. It wasn’t the question of “if I get breast cancer”, it was “when”. ❤️. That 87% chance lingered over my head...constantly wondering when I would get the news...what it would do to my body...and the constant worry that the big C would take me away from my girls. ❤️ This is why. ❤️ This is why I chose to remove my breasts. To reassure that my little blessings would never need to watch their mother suffer...that I would never leave them due to something that I could control with something as simple as surgery (although at times, it’s been anything less then simple). #mastectomy #selflove #breaties #reconstructivesurgery #brca2 #brca2positive #brcastrong #weightlossjourney #type1diabetes

Fun fact: I’ve been married twice. But it’s not what you’re thinking... In Germany, you have to have a “Justice of the Peace” ceremony in order to be officially married. Most couples have the ceremony the same day, right before their “wedding wedding.” Well, CYO and I didn’t want to wait. So, on a random Tuesday we drove to his hometown, picked up his grandparents, his mom and his best friend and said “I do.” My family @xyanrose @daenrose @kelly.c.rose @jamie_robertson_ and my best friend @caitieriane @Skype d in at 5AM East Coast time to watch (scroll to the last photos to see how they got dressed up “on top” but kept their pajamas on the bottom ) Everything about the day was perfect, especially my favorite moment (which pretty much sums up our entire marriage): me pouring some @moetchandon out for the homies and CYO fighting back his disgruntled face. Today is neither of our anniversaries, but I’m just so grateful for the man who adds color to my world and for my amazing family that has supported and loved me my entire life.
