When you see suggestions for self care you may see go to sleep early, read a book, exercise. You name it there are never ending lists with some truly great and worthy suggestions. However rarely do you see Go to Adoration: Spend time with Jesus. If want to do something truly priceless for yourself beginning this Lent, get ye to Adoration. Steal Away with the Lord. Time and again we read in Scriptures how Jesus was abandoned. How even his closet friends could not steal away one hour with the Lord. They’d start out strong then quickly whither to a listless creature, incapable of committing. . . . I have been one of these listless creatures. I still am a listless creature in far too many ways. But nothing is more consoling, forgiving, healing, restorative and life giving as going to Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. Truly it has been my absolute saving grace over these past years. Honestly I walk in beleaguered and torn and I find a renewed hope and peace I can’t find anywhere else. . . . If your hearts hurting get ye to Adoration. There’s no right or wrong way “to do” Adoration. Even if you simply show up and sit eyes closed in His presence allowing him to love you where you are, as you are, you have succeeded in growing your friendship with Jesus.
