*LENT 7/8* . One more week left to go! Can’t believe it’s been nearly 40 days and 40 nights since giving up IG. Out of all the Lents I’ve done in the past 20ish years, I can definitely say that this current one is the most meaningful, the most indelible, the most life-changing. Choosing a social issue to give up is such a rewarding experience. It’s a major lifestyle change for sure, but for the better. I have more time to do hobbies, appreciate the little things, “stop and smell the roses”, as well as just get shit done. Not just that, but I love how I’m not spending a buttload of time on my phone in front of my kid or randomly scrolling through social media during social events. I also love the fact that I don’t have a phone in my hand constantly. . Real life over Insta life, y’all. Always. . Personal mindfulness life goals are still chugging along slowly, but surely. Still squeezing in my 20 minute yoga sessions in the morning with a toddler hanging off of me. And still blasting zen meditation music while hurriedly trying to get through the morning house chores ... with a toddler hanging off of me. This week doesn’t really count though. I’ve spent all week planning and DIYing for my kid’s birthday party. . Anyways, back to Kdrama world. “Beating Again” finally got real interesting after 3 episodes. Why is it that the bad guys in all Kdramas always have the best character developments? . [To Be Continued]

*LENT 6/8* . It’s been a month without Instagram and I could honestly say - I def don’t miss wasting hours on here. I thought I’d go through some weird insta withdrawal period. Or worry about my engagement tanking. (Lost ~2k followers already.) Perhaps even lose sleep over it. (I’m not.) But here I am. Alive. Living in the real world, not through the fleeting fakeness of the insta world. And getting back to the fundamentals - where real conversations lay the foundations to meaningful relationships with substance. I often wonder how many photos on IG/FB really carry a meaningful story behind them. Or if they are staged and posed for the sake of posting a photo for all to see. . There are days when Instagram doesn’t even cross my mind at all. I no longer have that itch to constantly check Instagram and scroll mindlessly. I do, however, miss the few genuine souls that I have connected and/or met with in real life. Y’all are like needles in a haystack! . Anyways, things are going pretty slow with my personal life goals to mindfulness and enlightenment. Much of it is hindered by photography side projects and last minute plans to have a birthday party for the little guy. But I do squeeze in a self care routine here and there just to stay somewhat on track. . Also, getting back into the Kdrama world with Beating Again. 3 episodes in and not totally hooked yet. *LENT 5/8* . The hardest part for me during this Lenten season: Maintaining my ideal morning routine to complement my life quest for a more present and mindful lifestyle. I want to start off the day with a clear mindset through self care, in hopes of tackling my daily goals intentionally and productively. . IN MY HEAD: Wake up early. Brush teeth, wash face, use restroom. 30 second high heart rate exercise. Change up. Drink water. Take vitamins. 15-20 minute yoga. Play zen Indian yoga music while enjoying coffee/yogurt and contemplating about short term goals for the day. Then I resume baby duty after hubby finishes his baby morning shift. . REALITY: While I do wake up early naturally, I don’t actually roll out of bed until an hour later. I forget to do my 30 second exercise after my morning hygiene bit. A crying baby often greets me when I arrive downstairs and I immediately tidy up the living room (even though I’ve already done this the night before, but baby likes to make a mess once he’s breakfasted.) THEN I finally start my mini yoga session, which is anything but zen as baby runs through the house screaming and occasionally climbs on me. I play zen yoga music afterwards while hurriedly grabbing coffee / a quick bite to eat AND entertain baby who constantly follows my every move. If I’m lucky, baby will take his morning nap early. Only THEN can I take things kinda slow for 45 minutes before the little guy wakes up again. Either way, I still don’t have time to properly think through my day’s goals and organize my thoughts. . Kdramas at night probably aren’t helping my productivity level either, lol. But I’m proud to say that I’ve been Kdrama-free for a week, freeing up time for me to finish some photography work and start planning for R’s 1st Birthday. Hopefully I can get to other hobbies that I’ve been wanting to get back into. . So far it’s been a whirlwind Lenten season. While giving up Instagram is a major lifestyle improvement, I face challenges like time management and unpredictable baby issues. I’m not nearly close to my ideal goal of mindful living. Progress is slow. But progress, there is! . [To Be Continued]
