This zen-inspired powder room is in an exquisite mid-century modern home. The client lived in Japan for years and wanted an aesthetic to remind her of her time there. I'm excited about this new bath project, to be built in the New Year in Eugene's South Hills. Sink wall has really beautiful wall tile with two kinds of marble (Calacatta Gold and Thassos) and bronze accents. Shower has large format porcelain slabs on the walls. Niches in the shower have gold-backed glass tile. Floors are porcelain tile that looks just like Calacatta Gold marble. Plumbing fixtures and and lights have a brushed gold finish. Quartz counters have a 3" mitered edge. Cabinets will have an ultra high gloss finish. Doors and windows are detailed to be trim-less and minimalist. South facing etched glass windows will bathe this bathroom with beautiful daylight. Did I mention I can't wait . Meridian quartzite slabs arrived for an island in an upcoming cosmetic kitchen project. It’s hard to see, but these are stunningly beautiful up close. Quartzite is a natural stone, but is much denser than marble and granite, and so is much less susceptible to staining. We’re using quartz at the perimeter counters of the kitchen, and in the second photo you’ll see some of the one’s we considered—finally opting for a simple pattern. Templating day for book-matched porcelain wall slabs! These will line the shower of our South Hills Eugene bathroom renovation that’s underway now. Thus is a relatively new material in the design world and this is the first time I have had the opportunity to use it. The slabs are made to look very, very similar to actual Calacatta Gold marble slabs, and I have to say they are very convincing. The complexity reflected here includes recessed storage niches, a floating bench and a half wall with glass above. I’ll post photos as these are installed. So excited to share soon!
