C O L D M E D I C I N E ️❄️ . About a half a year ago I transformed my diet and training routine. This weekend I celebrated reaching some of my health goals. Now my energy levels are high and stable, I'm able to squat more than my own body weight and my fat percentage is 14% (year ago 19%). How do I celebrate? I go ice swimming!❄️ . After years of human experiment on myself, I have found two medicine above others for building a rock-solid immune system: the frog medicine Kambo and ice swimming. Both which are generally intense and uncomfortable experiences, but as it seems the best things never come easy! . Mental health is not a constant we have as individuals but a variable needing continuous recovery, support and development. Most of the keys for wellbeing are simple, free and up to one self. In the midst of the ongoing health care crisis it would make sense for us to utilize all the natural and non-harmful ways to take care of ourselves - especially during the dark winter. . The urban human lives in a “thermogenetic cocoon” which is not ideal for the function and performance of our bodies. Ice swimming has proven to ease depression symptoms, increase endorphin production, decrease stress and reactivity to stress. Swimmers report faster muscle recovery, better sleep quality and after-sport-like euphoric states. Human babies have abundance of brown fat cells on their bodies. Adults can increase the number of these cells through cold treatment such as ice swimming. Brown fat cells optimize metabolism and can play part in weight control. The latest research show increase in white blood cells critical for dealing with pathogens. ❄️ . Never did I know that there was so much to learn from the cold. Every day I look forward the next cold bath.
