Another #duolingo translation from #Polish a Slavic language I grew up with here in #Chicago , one of the largest Polish populations outside of #Poland , to #Lokono an Arawak language spoken in #Southamerica #Surinam and the #Guiyana s I'm learning for #languagerevitalization efforts of the #tainolanguage of my mother's #homeland #puertorico . I was inspired by the word “to” [toh] which in Lokono can mean both “the” (non-masculine) and the copula “is”, and in Polish means “this” (neuter) and can also function as a copula omitting the verb “jest” (to be) in x=y constructions.
