Most of the history, the idea of home came from the town we lived in, the community, family and friends. Now since most of us move all over the world and individuality took over, home lost its roots and became just a building. Basically a house. When I look at myself and other hikers we are deemed homeless. Sleeping wherever there is shelter or campsite, moving from one place to other everyday. It’s interesting how language manipulation changes the meaning. The actual idea of Homelessness attributes to lack of existential meaning, lack of a sense of belonging and lack of a community who can help us in tough times. None of the hikers I know are like that, So, even though we sleep on dirt we are not homeless. After all, there are people who own houses, call it their home but has no community to share the joys and sorrows of life, no one who they can intimately trust. They are the ones truly homeless living alone in big houses. Truth is, House is where you live, just a building and Home is a state of mind. Day 45: 20.6 Total: 646.1 miles

Hi! Luz here. I just wanted to give y’all a quick update on whats come about with the situation that happened last week at Woodring Branch Campground at Carters Lake.⠀ ⠀ With the support from y’all we’ve been able to warn other POCs of the incident via FB and google reviews. Their rating is pretty low now. Other than that I have not heard from anyone at the US Army Corp of Engineers or anyone from the campground. I’ve had couple of friends who were at the campground file reports on what happened and tried to contact rangers at Carters lake but no luck. ⠀ ⠀ I haven’t heard from anyone. I feel like this is currently out of my hands. I’ve learned to take this as a lesson. We can’t find justice in all situations but at least we can count on community to have our backs. So thank you all who commented and who send out messages of support. Thank you! We’re not going to let a situation like this affect our camping ways or stay out of the North GA area. ⠀ ⠀ Quick recap on what happened last week if you missed our insta stories: my friends and I drove 2 hours to north GA to meet up with a crew of friends to camp at Carters Lake. We were denied entry, yelled at like dogs and got the police called on us by two very aggressive and unwelcoming campground hosts all bc of a misunderstanding as to where to park our car. I was accused of drinking and driving simply bc I had a Taco Bell cup in my hand. Things went from me asking for fire wood to being yelled at and had the police involved within a couple of min. The treatment we received from these hosts was NOT the same treatment my white friends had who were already at the campground. We couldn’t do more than just drive back to Atlanta that same night bc we were banned from the campground. We rode back in silence wondering wtf just happened and in shock. ⠀ ⠀ #StopGatekeepers
