Never have I loved a city more. London, you were beyond amazing yesterday. Every single person that came out, gave some encouragement (and sweets), took the time to be part of our journey, you helped more than you could ever know. Running the London Marathon is a privilege, one that I hope everyone can try once. Being a Londoner is also a privilege and we should always continue to respect this by investing as much time as we can in our communities and supporting one another. The marathon shows just how much we all want to. Big up R4R crew cheering all the way around London with banners and their usual energy. And thanks to everyone who helped this particular run raise nearly £8000 for the Samaritans. Together we can end suicide ❤️

#TheGreaterFolk: Hi, I'm Khushboo Udeshi, an internationally-certified make-up artist, and I'm coloured with #ObsessiveCompulsiveDisorder and #Depression. # What was your lowest point and what was your positive takeaway from it? My lowest point was when I stopped believing in myself and stopped loving myself. Due to the Depression and all the negative self talk, I eventually lost all my self confidence and it was difficult for me to perform any task. Even doing make-up on my clients didn’t feel good enough. My takeaway from it was, self care, self love and believing in your own self is of utmost importance. Until you don’t love, respect, and validate yourself, you can’t work on anything else, be it your personal life or professional. Self love also keeps you on a higher vibration that only makes you more attractive and also more positive towards everything in life. It brings oodles of confidence! Being grateful is one thing I learnt too. I practice gratitude daily. It gives me a happy high. # Your go-to self care activity? Shopping. As cliché as it sounds, even if it’s a small shopping spree, it helps me recover from my stress. And also doing a nice face/body scrub and face pack session by myself. I follow a skin care routine with a nice bath to de-stress too! . . #GreaterThan65 #MentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness #MentalHealthMatters #MentalHealthCommunity #MentalHealthSoldier #MentalHealthAdvocate #Depression #Anxiety #SocialAnxiety #OCD #BPD #SelfCare #SelfLove #SelfAcceptance #MentalHealthBlogger #YouMatter #Empathy #MentalHealthStories #OCDRecovery #

You don't have a seasonal body, only a body that is perfect all year round and doesn't need to be changed depending on the season! . How do you (or are you going to) EMBRACE your body more and appreciate it for what it is, right now?☺️

Love this quote from @chloebrotheridge! So many of us strive for perfection but the reality is it doesn't exist. Everyone's idea of "perfect" is different but one thing that is usually the same is that it is unattainable. As hard as it can be for the perfectionists among us, we need to be striving for the best that we can be, rather than chasing this unattainable idea of perfection!❤️ • @chloebrotheridge recently did a takeover on our stories as part of our Meet the Professionals segment. If you missed it check our highlights where you'll be able find out what she shared! ☺️

Reposted from @mentalhealthfoundation - **Trigger warning: this discusses behaviours relating to body dysmorphic disorder** . . At the age of 14, Danny's mental health took a downwards turn. Pressure to look 'perfect', comments on social media and a narrow view of success combined to create the perfect storm: . . ”Spending hours and hours and hours in front of the mirror, up to 10 hrs a day, at its worst. Taking up to 200 photos a day, trying to zoom in to find where the problem was. Spending 6 months housebound, not being able to leave the house because I was terrified that I would scare people, walking down the street that people would literally be frightened of me. I think that was really really difficult, extreme for anyone else who would hear that story, but for me it was so real.” . . “There was a positive that I managed to get out of that, and I think that shows a very clear message that if I can do it, then anyone can get out of their body image difficulties.” . . He is now an university student and works at a political thinktank, and is passionate about sharing his story so that no one else loses their childhood because of body image difficulties. . . Find out more about our body image campaign for #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek 2019 by visiting mentalhealth.org.uk/MHAW. . . ✨ Thank you to Danny for bravely sharing his story. . . . . Such an interesting post from @markwfreeman who recently did a takeover here on MH Stories! ❤️ If you missed it checkout our highlights and head over to mhstories.com to read Mark's story ✨ #Repost ・・・ One of the drawbacks of old-school CBT is that it gets people to add up evidence against the stuff in your head. You engage with those thoughts and feelings and you prove them wrong and irrational! In theory. Unfortunately, this can just turn into a never ending debate-a-thon. It encourages your brain to come up with increasingly terrifying and complex uncertainties until it finds one you can't prove wrong. You can always come up with some worry or an insecurity firmly rooted in your past experiences that will outweigh and overwhelm any evidence to the contrary. It can be much more useful to work on learning to accept uncertainties and fears instead of spending your life trying to win a debate competition you've already lost simply by signing up. #mentalhealth #CBT #reasons #rationalthinking #emotions #intrusivethoughts #psychology #recovery #acceptance #mindfulness #anxiety #fear #therapy #uncertainty #ACT

This week is #MentalHealthAwareness week in the UK - it’s so inspiring to read everyone’s stories. It shapes who you are to go through these experiences.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Flights. Loosing my VIP things (Liz Earle cleanser or my only remaining “good bra”. Oh, or my passport). Taxi drivers taking us elsewhere. Flights. Dark streets. Crazy beeping everywhere. Dirty rooms. Flights. Bites. Food poisoning. Stray dogs. Bugs. Missing boats. Trying out mopeds. Flights. Pitch black roads with no signal. Being stuck on an island. No clean clothes. Anything happening to Matthew. Anything happening to me. Flights. Running out of shampoo... ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ My mind would run at a million miles an hour when we first started travelling. I would think about ALL of those things, ALL at once. It created a level of anxiety, especially whilst on flights, that I wondered if I could deal with for the length of time that we’d be on the move. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Throughout the past 5 months of managing and navigating all of these things daily, my perspectives of what is really important have filtered out so much of it. Like a mental sieve!! Travelling teaches you so much about how to prioritise, how to put fears into context and most importantly how to trust yourself that YOU’VE GOT THIS. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ It empowers me to see how differently I think now. I’m really proud of this mindset that I’ve been working on It definitely takes WORK and is certainly not always easy - but maybe that’s what everyone means when they talk about growth. Who knows!! We’re all fathoming it out together, and no one has all the answers. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ But one thing’s for sure, investing in your own mental health is something everyone deserves. At risk of sounding like a garnier advert... you’re worth it!!! #LMWorldTrip
