#SNEAKYSTRENGTHYOGA DAY 5 . @jenni_rawlings I was not that happiest camper when I saw @kathrynbruniyoung offering to this challenge Haha. Last time I did swimmers in squat was for a @coachzachdeck challenge and fell on my rump lol. . Wasnt sure if I was gonna have time this after noon (last weekend of YTT and I'm teaching my practicum class ) to get it so why not try it cold on your break at work ‍♂️ . Sp here it is my work gear. One take ... (btw these are minimalist work boots from @lemsshoes So no heals lol) . Infinity hovers > iso mp to pistol squats and back > shoulder axials > capsule Americanas . #SNEAKYSTRENGTHYOGA DAY 7 . Day 7 is was my friend @jenni_rawlings turn to drop some fun on us! . I have to admit when I saw it was hand stand hops a wave of PTSD flashed over me Haha. . . In another episode of this can only happen to Scott Schirmer flash back about 2 years ago to my friend @nicolesearlesyoga class where she invited us to do a few baby handstand hops. . I guess you can say I was a little over zealous or just plain clueless and kicked just a wee but too hard. Next thing you know I'm vertical. Then I'm past vertical and panicking, then I'm ass over tea kettle landing shoulder first on the ladies mat in front of me . Embarrassed? Horrified? Injured? Yes, yes and yes hahaha but my ego took over and bounced up and finished the class even though next day I could barley put my shirt on lol . Ok enough of story time lol . So I tried to figure variation to make this a little more me friendly and used my mini parraletts for some assistance. . Dropped down from a toe sissy squat and got inspiration from @lizette_pompa story a bit ago when she jumped from kneel to a malasnana. Then to some one legged "hops" before attempting both at same time. Have to admit head tapped down. (Was really trying to keep it up) then toe squat back up! . #SNEAKYSTRENGTHYOGA DAY 4 . @jenni_rawlings . Today it was @francescacervero turn with a fun take on warrior 3. Focussing in some hammies and hip extention . After watching some great variations roll in I tried to make mine a little different. So why no just hang some dumbbells off of mini bands for as @yogadetour likes to say ... perturbation. . On my leg is a 5lber hanging of a mini and for my shoulder I only had a 2lber hanging of regular mini. Let me tell you they felt way heavier lol . I'll be the first to admit here my low back was all over the place but I was more interested in not falling over ...although you know me I'm always down for a good blooper reel. . I also wasnt trying to be all cinematographer here down by the lake... I tried in my house but my living room was too small for me to fit I the frame Haha. Just finished the last of 7 classes in 2 days for our final practicals for ytt! And also just had the high light of all my training when a friend j class said her sequnce was in spite by what I taught her about the difference between mobility and flexibility. And also some things she picked up in my Kinstretch classes . It was taken back to say the least. I couldnt beleive the feeling I got knowing that she took hold of the info i passed along and not only connected with it but it is influencing the way she is teaching. . This must be the feeling that teacher talk about! I was so humbled and grateful. . ☄PROGRESS REPORT ☄ . “So, in short - it now looks like you have joints” `@coachzachdeck . The videos on the left are from last April.  They were the initial assessment videos when I first started to work with Zach when we he was doing personalized programs before  #remotekinstretchmembership.  I did that first 12 weeks then with out a second thought switched over to RKM when it launched. . The proof is in the pudding as they say. And I hope you can tell from these side by sides that I have made some major progress this past year. . I know it may be hard to tell (especially in the shoulders) while there is definitely more ROM now the big progress is how much less compensation there is. My hips and shoulders are actually doing hip and shoulder stuff now. I have joints!!! . What you can’t get from the videos is how much better these movements actually feel in my body. They feel so much smoother and so much more in control! . This has carried over to my everyday life too! Work takes such toll on my body this has been a game changer. . A year of working with Zach has not only just improved my movement but my knowledge as well.  If it wasn’t for all the I learned this past year from him I can honestly say there is no way I would have had the confidence to not only get FRC and Kinstretch certified but to actually start teaching a weekly Kinstretch class last month. . ☄HOW’S YOUR WRISTS FEELIN☄ . One of the first things I noticed when I started my yoga practice was how shitty my wrists felt. . More often that not when i would mention this to people they would say I’m just not used to being on them that much and just need to spend more time there to get used to it. . So not only was I doin every chaturanga that came down the pike I was also really emphasizing getting my shoulders past my wrists  Add on the fact that I was dying to learn to “float” forward and hand balance so would practice all the time. . Here’s the thing… my wrist only got worse.  And for a long time no one asked me what I’ve come to believe is the most important question.  Do you have the prerequisite wrist ACTIVE extension of at least 90 degrees to be on your hands like that. I don’t think it was until I took @jenni_rawlings wrist class that i did the “T” test like @mindfulmobiltyyoga is doing in the first video.  Mine was more like a upper case Y than a T. . With out being able to achieve that T actively meaning using your own wrist strength to achieve it and not your other hand or the floor to get it there, and then adding load (yes body weight is load) is asking from trouble. . Video 2 and 3 are some @functionalrangeconditioning drills to help not only help you open up new mobility range but to be strong and own that range so you get on the road to a pain free wrist practice. . Give them a try and make sure you take me and Lauren and let us know what you think.  Be sure to tag a friend who could use some wrist love. . Time to rewrite the story! . The older I get and the more self work I do I truly believe the stories we tell ourselves is one of the biggest factors that hold us back Ok speaking just for myself it holds me back! . As long as I can remember I have told the story I'm not creative. Just truly believed it and thought it was a gene you were born with . I'm finaly (slowly) rewriting it. Espeacilly after being picked as one of 3 winners in the #sneakystrengthyoga challenge you've seen me posting the past 2 weeks. To say I was blown away doenst even come close to describing how I felt. Tons of feelings came up but what I've been thinking about most is this story I've told myself for years. . Now it's time to ease this story out for good. I no longer want or need it. It def no longer serves me and will just hold me back from chasing my goals and dreams. .
