The thing that I remember is the fear. Parenthood is supposed to be filled with happiness, learning and beautiful experiences. No one prepares you for a diagnosis like that. So when the doctors come and tells you that your bundle of joy is ill - that's heartbreaking. And you feel paralyzed, and useless. Helpless. And there's nothing you can do but to work with the doctors and keep the spirits high, as much as possible. You have to do it for the little one, and you need to find the strength to keep on going. Because if everything goes according to plan, soon enough you'll be playing in the park, enjoying life again. And you will be able to create amazing memories. . . . Brain surgery, radiation surgery, 12 rounds of chemo, 5 rounds of radiation, rectum and tumor removal with an ileostomy bag, then ileostomy bag reversal. I’m still in pain from my reversal surgery but at least most of these pictures qualify for a Throwback Thursday now that I’m in maintenance mode. ‍♀️

Today is National Cancer Survivors Day! And shew, what a week it has been. My cancer left me with some not-so-fun lingering issues and this week they hit me hard. I try not to complain and usually just keep to myself when it happens - which probably isn't the best thing either. My sweet friend @robinordanphotography took this photo of me shortly after my cancer diagnosis. She wanted a picture to show after I kicked cancer's booty. (I mean, how wonderful is she and how awesome is that?!) I am almost 2.5 years NED (in cancer world that means No Evidence of Disease). Shew! What a blessing!! Thank you to everyone who supported and prayed for me along my journey. Thank you to all of the caregivers out there as I know it is just as hard on you, if not harder than it is on the patient. And a big shoutout to all of the cancer warriors out there who have endured so much and continue to fight. Who educate and spread awareness.
