Honored to have spent the last 8 weeks helping out the amazing Penny Simkin with her hospital birth class. She is not only a legend in the birth world, but she is also a kind and caring individual. Looking forward to joining her this summer for her Sibling Class with #delphinejames #seattledoula #childbirtheducation #empoweredbirth #doula #pennysimkin #birth #childbirth #hellobabyseattle

Sharing this delicate throwback that practically make me ovulate on the spot. 4 days fresh, engorged and leaking breasts, wrapped up in blankets and eachother, wearing the same hat that I wore home from the hospital some 25 years ago . #thefourthtrimester #goldenhour #breastfeeding #empoweredbirthproject #motherhoodrising #themotherhoodtrip #newborn #fresh48 #preemie #35weeker #radicalmotherhood #seattledoula #pnwdoula #pnwmotherhood

16 months of #cosleeping and no end in sight . Studies show that cosleeping promotes physiological development, improves sleep for both mama and babe, helps support healthy milk supply, assures bonding and attachment, and reduces SIDS amongst the other joys like waking up to a cheesy grin and drooly kisses. While these facts may not be true for ALL, they are true for us. Have we had our rough nights? Of course. That's just part of the journey and all worth the benefits for us. We tried using a crib once months ago and it lasted all of 2 hours before I realized the only reason I even tried was because I felt some weird societal pressure to have her "learn to self soothe" no one likes to sleep alone, it's just not in our human nature. You wouldn't tell a monkey or dog or lioness to put there babe in a separate area to sleep so why why why is our culture so obsessed with pushing kids before they are ready? I like to have comforts, warmth, a sip of water, etc and I don't expect any less from her. I could go on about this forever but only have so much space so go and follow @beyond_sleep_training_project for some supportive inspiration #attachmentparenting #consciousmotherhood #clothdiapers #bedsharing #endsleeptraining #seattledoula

As we've swiftly said goodbye to baby days and dove deep into toddlerhood, I'm hearing the call that our family isn't quite complete. This child has a soul mate, a companion, who is beckoning to us (and especially to her). Their presence is loud, clear, demanding, certain, and persistent as I assume their personality will echo. I've spent the last few weeks listening and opening. Relearning the secrets of the universe. And although hubs and I agree it isn't physically the time, sweet Earth babe is already here in spirit and I can tell will balance our little Water-Air-Fire family . I would love to hear any of your experiences or journeys with conscious conception! Feel free to comment or DM me for I long to find some connections and support #consciousconception #fertility #consciousmama #radicalmotherhood #pnwdoula #seattledoula #intuitiveparenting #motherhoodrising #conception #menstruation #FAM

Our stories begin in gestation, not at birth. In the waters we develop and rest in. Those waters are in direct alignment with the environment, feeling, attitude, and energy of the one who is carrying us. Water holds memory. It takes the shape of what it is influenced and surrounded by. Feeling confident, secure, affirmed, supported, and empowered during pregnancy directly impacts the development and birth of a baby.✨ Pictured: me, my Mother’s rainbow baby, a wee two hours old. ✨ #seattledoula #pregnancy #gentlebirth

I love attending births. But ohhh man how I love her more. So stoked to have the next month or so off-call for long hikes, birthday celebrations, camping trips, vacations, and mimosas on the weekend . #fulltermbreastfeeding #extendedbreastfeeding #nursinginnature #doulalife #radicalbirthkeeper #pnwdoula #seattledoula

Stepping into this new phase of my practice and business (they are so intertwined) with absolute child like excitement, innocence, wonder, and expectations. Not really knowing what I'm getting myself into, feeling hesitant but oh so hopeful. Knowing it'll be worth it once I'm there. Ready to get dirty and break down barriers. With this childlike perspective also comes a knowing that I will stumble. I will fall. I will get up to try and try again, until this new space is my new normal, my home ❣️#radicalmotherhood #birthkeeper #consciousmama #pnwdoula #pnwmama #seattledoula #livingwithintention #worlddoulaweek

⚡doulas don't replace partners during birth⚡ . Your partner knows you, and I know birth. Together we create a broad spectrum of support options for you. Moments before I snapped this photo, I was straddled across the bed, propping pillows, maintaining eye contact, and breathing with @ajmw10 while her partner used my massager on her back. This makes the dream team trifecta! . Answering questions and educating prenatally, giving couples at-home scenarios to practice Reminding and then fetching food, water, or coffee so they don't have to leave your side during laborOffering them ideas for positions Reminding them that what the birthing person is experiencing is normal(or not normal--and notifying the provider) Relaying updates to nurses or the midwife Letting them take a break if needed Shutting you 2 in the bathroom for some alone time Having one support person behind doing hip compressions and one in front hand holding and doing breath work Facilitating skin to skin with babe and partner And the list goes on with a doula is an addition to your partner, not a subtraction or substitute! . A birthing person should only have to focus on one thing: birth. My only thing to focus on? Making sure you are 100% supported, even when your partner needs to use the bathroom. Stop by my website or DM me if you are local, expecting, and would like a free consult!⚡ #pnwdoula #seattledoula #doulasupport #birthbecomesher #empoweredbirthproject #laboranddelivery #birthmatters #birthwithoutfear #badassmotherbirther
