Came up with this banger last week, linking many elements of the challenge for my class
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not sure why, but I love me a good personal challenge of piecing things together for a seamless flow.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Between you and I, camel and handstand hops didn’t actually make the class (rather they were an impromptu video addition)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And, my second attempt teaching this fell victim to a couple (okay, a lot) of (L) and (R) errors.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But, overall it was a sequence I felt confident guiding my students through and I had a lot of fun with!

So we’ve all heard of synchronized swimming, but today @scott_moving_forward and I took a stab at synchronized sequencing

An ode to the final day of #sneakystrengthyoga challenge, and we wanted to go out with a bang!

Needless to say, we had some fun post-yoga class drumming up our variation of camel pose introduced by @yogadetour

We were off to a slow start, but with the help of @acope116 and @lookforlucy we pieced it together..with our trademark flair of cheesy-ness, of course! ;)

It’s Day 4 of the #SneakyStrengthYoga Challenge and it’s my turn to share a favorite move (or really sequence, huh? Once a choreographer, always a choreographer ♀️ )

In my body, big movements are usually easier than tiny ones that ask for a very stable pelvis so this sequence combines both kinds of movements! Which part is more challenging for you? I’d love to hear!

Important Notes::
I highly recommend you try a version with your hands on a chair OR down on hands and knees first, before you try it in this W3 Variation. I LOVE working W3 with hands on blocks rather than using it as a balance pose because it is such a good place to challenge our hip stabilizing muscles when we aren’t too focused on trying to balance.
These variations include some hamstring contractions which we don’t get much of in yoga AND...
some work on flexing the thigh at the hip joint WITHOUT bringing the pelvis into a posterior tuck. Go back to @lizette_pompa ‘s move to make sure you’re ready for this! move through a pistol squat on the way down to Janu Sirsasana for a little rest after all that work! Enjoy!

Day 5 of #sneakystrengthyoga with host @kathrynbruniyoung . OMG this is so challenging for me. I have been working on controlling my rib flare when I move my arms and shoulders, and I can see I still have work to do. read those last 6 words again and imagine me saying it with excitement and a happy dance.

One of my favorite ways to add load to yoga poses is to use an ACTIVE variation where the limbs have to move themselves without using leverage.
.
In this transition from EXTENDED SIDE ANGLE POSE, instead of binding and using my arm to pick up my leg, I’m making my LEG PICK UP MY LEG to transition into + back out of BIRD OF PARADISE.
.
Doing it this way means you will get A LOT more load and strengthening than you would get by binding and using leverage.
