F R E E D O M ✨ . . Yoga is my freedom, and outside practice is even more liberating being able to practice outside and connect with the grass and the ground is beautiful ‍♀️ . . Yoga allows me to feel free and calm. In my own little world. I still have days where I feel anxious and down but they are dwindling, my crippling stomach pain has reduced significantly (I still suffer but not as bad) and my lower back has stopped hurting. I feel stronger, healthier and happier. I think it’s all down to practising yoga and getting in the zone. . . Another headstand variation today, as I’m becoming more relaxed and freely moving with my body! I’m able to do more poses that I couldn’t before. P I G E O N V A R I A T I O N✨ . . A one legged king pigeon pose today. Something I’ve only just been able to do. It’s actually very relaxing to be in this pose and sink into the breath for a few moments! As I get better at relaxing even deeper into the pose i hope my hips will sink slightly lower and I will be able to reach my arm into a full right angle! Last night I took a tumble, fell into my tv cabinet while practicing a handstand ‍♀️ got a massive carpet burn on my knee so that’s hindering me a little But I’m so pleased with this to start with ‍♀️ . . H O W T O ~ from classical pigeon pose, gently reach back with your left hand as you lift the left foot off the ground. Inhale, grab your left foot with your left hand and begin to wiggle your foot into the crease of your elbow. Exhale and engage the core muscles on the next inhale! It’s great to stay in this position for as long as you can . . To take it to the next level, bend your right arm over your head as your reach for your left hand! Keep your hips level and chest lifted and even smile . . I had a thought today about Why do I always feel down on a Sunday?! why do I get Monday blues? so today I have made the conscious effort to make Sunday a relaxed productive day to make Monday less daunting! A little bit of yoga, homework and true detective! Just a little something to get my brain out of the slump so hopefully tomorrow will be great! C R O W ✨ . . Aka Bakasana. Crow practice from the weekend. Still improvements to be made but I’m getting closer. My knees need to be higher and tucked under my armpits, so will be working on that Have been practicing this alongside my handstands for a while now and am really feeling the benefits! This pose strengthens the arms and abs while stretching out the upper back and groins. It’s also aided improvement in my balance across my whole practice, which is something I initially struggled with . . H O W T O ~ fold forward and place hands shoulder width apart. On tippy toes, walk towards your hands while bending your knees. Tuck your knees up towards your armpits and wrap them around your upper arm. To protect your wrists, push the pads of your fingers into the floor . . If this pose looks daunting to begin with (it was for me when I first tried), the ‘baby crow’ pose is a great place to start. Try get into the crow pose as best as possible and then rest your head on the ground to save your wrists. You’ll still feel many of the benefits as you build into the full pose . . Really falling in love with Yoga and learning the ins and outs. One last week to get the discount for my yoga retreat this Summer 7th - 11th August in Ibiza.
