I went to Castle Rock Park yesterday, and barely made it out of the parking lot before finding the spot. What initially drew me here were cattle drinking from the creek, but they left almost instantly. This is another large 18”x24” piece, and really allows for more bold and expressive brush strokes. Walnut Creek, California: The Summit of Mt. Diablo State Park. We took two Cars full of wild kids, four backpacks filled with food, water and first aid and we set out for the peak. And yes, that’s snow in the Bay Area! 3k above sea level, this hike was over 25k steps up and then down (our 4 year old could hang!) with spectacular views of the entire San Francisco Bay. . . . But if your not up for the trails, or just cannot- State Parks always has you covered: there is a road to the top and the walk from the parking lot to the summit/visitors center is short. The Visitors Center is, of course, nothing short of awesome. It’s kind of a mess...but was a really engaging challenge . You know it’s probably a bad idea when you can barely decipher it in real life, but I actually quite enjoy the painting in person. It’s 24”x18”, and I really wanted to capture the light cutting through the trees, and down to the creek.
