I’m a mess, but in the best kind of mess you can be, vulnerable and open. I heard a quote by John McQuiston and it says “Always we begin again.” That’s who I am right now, a new beginning in every sense. I just moved to Nashville and I’m in a season where “unfamiliar” is around every bend. I was absolutely terrified at first to step into this new season of my life but now I’m more grateful than ever to have left everything I know behind for a while and start anew. I have been undone, unraveled and UNCOMFORTABLE for almost 5 months now. I’ve cried a lot, but not just sad tears. Most of the tears I’ve cried have been happy, excited or surprised tears. I’m stepping out into my calling of helping others turn from victims to survivors and I’m mending from my past abuses in the process. I know that in the process of helping others heal, there’s a transformative work that takes place inside of me. It’s never a one way street, God doesn’t work that way. Right now I’m independent. As a woman and as an adult. This is my first time living on my own with a roommate outside of my parents house. This is my first time taking on bills and groceries and car problems alone. But I’ve never been so happy to be such a mess. I’m healing in this mess of mine and growing and stretching who I am. I am learning now more than ever that when God says to let go of what’s familiar He has my best interest in mind. I clung so tightly to what I knew, but now I’m learning to embrace new things every single day. Also, another thing about me is that I’m learning that it is completely okay to say NO. Wow, it’s okay to say no? YES it is. I have had such a problem with people pleasing that it has made me sick in the past because I’ve taken on too much and before I knew it I was buried neck deep in commitments I got myself in to. I wasn’t allowed to blame anyone else and yet I tried. This season is hard. It’s not easy, in fact I feel like sometimes I could easily just pack my things and head back home. But, I’m on a pilgrimage and I’m not going to stop moving forward. In the moments it hurts, I do have a community of people praying and uplifting me. I’m so thankful for them always.

See the different resonant modes of this 20x20cm aluminium square. From 80 - 800hz. These are its resonant modes from 80 - 800Hz. These patters are exactly repeatable, which I am demonstrating by starting each one off covered in sand, before vibrating to the displayed frequency. As the plate flexes and vibrates, nodes and antinodes form. The nodes are the points where the plate is not vibrating, and we see the sand accumulate there. Higher frequency creates more points of interference, so the pattern becomes more complex. The frequency itself is not important alone, but must be in collaboration with the perfect variables of the medium for it to form its resonant modes, triggered by these specific frequencies.
