We see lots and lots of giveaways on Instagram, they are great, they are FUN, and I have won some myself! It’s super exciting to win! I have also held dozens of them in our Facebook group over the last couple of years which is a lot of fun as well. But recently, I learned some folks having giveaways in this community are asking winners to do certain things for them after they win. Like making announcements using specific hashtags and some are even being asked to post a prepared script about winning the prize. Whoa! And I want to let everyone know YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO THIS. It is actually illegal to even ask you do to this. Once a winner is chosen, nothing can be asked of the winner other than getting a shipping address if needed or email (for an e-gift certificate, etc.). That’s it. You don’t have to tell anybody you won, you don’t have to tag anyone, use hashtags, nothing. You can if you want to, showing appreciation is a nice thing to do, but it can not be required of you or even suggested. I don’t mean to be the fragrance community police as I seem to be lately, I’m just trying to look out for people. That’s it. I picked up a few things at Jo Malone counter today. I’ve went through several small bottles of Wood Sage and sea salt so it was time to get the big bottle. I love their candles so I got the lime basil and mandarin. I needed something fresh and citrus for the spring and summer. I had to take advantage of the gift card event and birthday money.
