Day 2️⃣5️⃣ of #FrebergSabbatical: Today was my last day working at QUT during my visit to Brisbane. It was a fabulously productive day! I started off recording videos all around campus for two classes (one was for PR, and the other class was Digital Strategy). These videos will be used as part of the class material for this term and future ones. I had a lot of fun! One video was filmed in a coffee ☕️ shop (naturally! ☺️) I also had a chance to do a guest talk with a media strategy class this evening. It was fun talking with students about the changes we are seeing in the media landscape. To end a great day, Lisa and her husband Garreth took me out for a German meal and it was awesome! Thank you Lisa and Garreth for a fabulous way to end the day! I had a blast at QUT and special thanks to Lisa for being a fabulous host, friend and colleague. Day 2️⃣7️⃣ of #FrebergSabbatical: I wanted to see Sydney on this gorgeous ☀️ day - and I was thinking - where could I go to see the Opera House in the best way? Of course the answer was to climb the Sydney Harbor Bridge to see it! As @sabrina.f.page and @kcsaling know - it was right there!!!! ☺️ So, it had to be climbed! Tried to make you ladies proud!!! It was spectacular! The view of Sydney was amazing and the climb was good (lots of steps!). Day 1️⃣9️⃣ of #FrebergSabbatical: Today was my last full day on the Sunshine Coast , and Karen made sure to have a jammed pack day! I was able to get over 18,000 steps today! We spent the day touring around Noosa, having a shopping spree at a local market, getting our character done (Got to mark #KarenSquared!) and we ended the day with a farewell dinner with Karen and Lisa. This has truly been a remarkable learning, growing, and fabulous experience! My heart and mind are full. ☺️ I can’t thank @karenesutherland enough for her allowing me to work with her and learn all of the amazing things she’s doing here in Australia! It’s truly been one of the most transformational experiences I’ve had in my life. Next stop: Brisbane where I’ll be at QUT!! ☺️ Super excited to chat, learn and work on a few social and digital activities!

Day 1️⃣8️⃣ of #FrebergSabbatical: Today was my last official day at the USC campus - I can’t believe how fast this time has flown by!! It just seems like I arrived to yesterday!! Karen and I visited The Cave, which is a visualization studio where you can really do some cool things for your classes and research. So many cool possibilities! As we were leaving campus, Karen pointed out there was a kangaroo on the side walk. They come on campus, but I hadn’t seen one yet, so I was super excited! Not only that - there was a BABY KANGAROO as well! Too precious! Karen said I couldn’t bring one back with me to the USA. This is not good bye, USC. Day 1️⃣3️⃣ of #FrebergSabbatical: Heading on a ✈️ first to Sydney and then to Wellington, for the next few days! I’m going to be giving a social media and crisis communication talk at Victoria School of Business in Wellington. This talk is a direct result of a blog post I shared about going down to Australia for my sabbatical. I have a good friend on LinkedIn who saw the post and said - Karen, want to come and speak in NZ? We are in the neighborhood! I of course said yes! Excited to finally meet Dan after years of talking crisis research on LinkedIn. It’s been nearly 26 years since I was in New Zealand (first international family trip!) - but never have been to Wellington. Super excited! #SMprofs #PRprofs #Sabbatical

‪Day 4️⃣ of #FrebergSabbatical:‬ ‪-@kesutherland777 + I started the day off punching some research ideas around at a boxing class!‬ Thanks for the invite to this class, Karen! What a great workout! ‪-Great brainstorming lunch at the beach for an industry talk‬. This will happen later this month and I’m looking forward to presenting w/ Karen and Amber (a great PR pro here in Australia). Love making all of these new connections! ‪-Spending time at the beach to reflect on this epic journey! ☺️‬ It was truly a perfect place to be thankful and enjoy the moment. #SMprofs #PRprofs #SMM #Sabbatical

Day 2️⃣4️⃣ of #FrebergSabbatical: Another busy and productive day at QUT! It was a lot of fun presenting all about influencer marketing to the QUT AD/PR faculty. Lots of insightful discussions emerged from this! It was a day also spent bouncing around ideas for research, touring around campus, recording a lecture to be used in a PR class about digital/social media relations, and getting ready for tomorrow. Also, Lisa presented me w/ some amazing QUT gifts as a thankful for my talk. Thank you so much, Lisa! So kind of you! ☺️ Will be recording videos for two other courses and I have a guest talk for an evening class all about the current digital and social media environment. Day 2️⃣3️⃣ of #FrebergSabbatical: Got an early morning ✈️ from Melbourne back to Brisbane today! Coffee ☕️ was for today! ☺️ Major thanks to Lisa for showing me around QUT today and getting the chance to meet everyone! I throughly enjoyed seeing the campus (The Cube is such a cool space for students!) and chatting w/ several PR students (Future ⭐️s in the making!). I also spent the afternoon chatting all about social media and crisis research w/ a new PhD student. The future is bright w/ these emerging scholars! Tomorrow will be another busy day. I’ll be giving an invited lunch talk to the Advertising and PR faculty about influencers and what we need to be aware of in the future from a research / industry perspective.
