Italy Free / Bellagio . . #Bellagio is a village on a promontory jutting out into #lakecomo . The whole area is already magnificent, mind you, and it's quite worth it to go around the whole lake if you have the time. If you don't Bellagio is perhaps its best bet to see cobbled lanes, elegant buildings and dozens of gardens, private and public, like the #VillaSerbelloniPark, an 18th-century terraced garden with amazing lake views. When the weather is nice, staying overnight or for a few lady days could be a good bet. Italy Free / Varenna . . In Lake Como, I suppose the great attraction is Bellagio, but it's in Varena that I've lost my heart. The town is micro, but the whole arrival by ferry, walking from the port to the city along a path walk by the water, the mini town square, the one church and incredible lake views. It was founded by local fishermen in 769, and was later allied with the commune of Milan. In 1126 it was destroyed by the rival commune of Como, and later received the refugees from the Isola Comacina, who had met the same fate. Leeds Free / Meanwood . . Meanwood is a typical residential area in the north of Leeds. When sunny (miraculously), the place comes alive. Several tiny little paths through old stone houses lead to Meanwood Park, a beautiful open space where locals congregate. These small English burbs are quite cute and hold a few surprises, like a classical English manor transformed into a Thai temple (complete with festival!). Italy Free / Sacro Monte Di Varese . . #sacromontedivarese is one of the nine Sacred Pre-Alpine Mountains of #Piedmont and #Lombardy, which were acknowledged by #UNESCO as World Heritage in 2003. You get to the main portal to meet the Holy Road (2km climb up, but well worth it!) with its 14 chapels, each representing one of the Mysteries of Jesus' life. You can find at the mountaintop the Sanctuary and a tiny little village with hardly any infrastructure. Switzerland Free / Valle Verzasca . . We got here by chance. We had a few hours to spare and a car, so we started to check out what we could go around #Lugano. Then we saw incredibly beautiful pictures of #ValleVerzasca - a quick 40mins incredibly stunning ride from Lugano, and so we went. The valley is much closer to #LagoMaggiore in fact, but you need to drive up the mountains a bit. Towards the end of this stretch, you will clearly see an impossibly tiny and lovely medieval town #lavertezzo on your right, filled with the so-called Rustici (Italian for farm house) in grey stone, with white borders on the windows and heavy stone roofs. On the left, rapids and arc bridge. Italy Free / Verona . . Verona, the backdrop to the world's first modern drama: Romeo and Juliet. The balcony thousands of tourists flock to was added some hundred years ago and the whole house has nothing to do with the fictitious story, but it helped boost Verona's tourist and give the story a sense of palpable veracity, so there we go. Smart Italians ❤️. Juliet's balcony is the least interesting bit of this city. Check out the pictures to get inspired to just stroll around the city.
