Today @freshmadenyc: homemade pasta with radish pesto. PASTA WITH RADISH PESTO Makes 4 servings INGREDIENTS: Pasta for 1: ¾ cup all-purpose flour (plus more for rolling out dough) 1 egg 1 teaspoon olive oil ½ teaspoon salt ½ cup herbs or greens For radish pesto: 2 garlic cloves, crushed Greens from 1 big bunch of radishes, chopped 1/4 cup parsley leaves 3/4 cup roasted salted pumpkin seeds (3 ounces), plus more for garnish 3/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil 1 cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, plus more for garnish Kosher salt Pepper 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice Radish, sliced thinly, for garnish DIRECTIONS: In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Make a well in the middle of the flour, add egg, greens or herbs, and olive oil. Stir with a fork until the dough starts to come together. Once the dough comes together, remove to a floured surface and knead until smooth. Roll the dough as thin as you can and cut in long strips Heat a large pot of water over medium-high heat until rolling boil. Season generously with salt. Cook the pasta in batches for about 3-5 minutes. Drain, reserving 1 cup of the pasta water. Return the pasta to the pot. Add the pesto, lemon juice and 1/2 cup of the pasta water. Season with salt and pepper and toss over low heat until coated, about 2 minutes; add more pasta water if a thinner consistency is desired.
 Top with thinly sliced radish and fresh herbs.

And hey some learning still occurred ‍♀️. For those of you not familiar with it, @freshmadenyc is this fun inviting cooking studio, for the little chefs in your life; and apparently I have two #minichefs at home. I honestly expected Nylah to be hands on while Idris just observed, but my little guy was all about it! He was so cute trying to partake in the whole process, and I juts loved how well they worked together. They made orange creamsicle #whoopiepies, that were just DELICIOUS! Keep an eye on our stories tomorrow, where I’ll be sharing more of my two little chefs in action. How many of you mamas let your little ones assist you in the kitchen often? Summer Watermelon Cakes What you need: - watermelon sliced into 1” thick rounds - whole milk yogurt or fave non-dairy yogurt - pure maple syrup or honey - vanilla bean or extract - toppings like dark chocolate chips or cocoa nibs, dried cranberries, dried unsweetened coconut, fresh mint, blueberries, cherries, apples, strawberries, etc - assorted size round cookie cutters for making “cake” layers - assorted mini cookie cutters like stars, hearts, flowers, etc Mix yogurt with vanilla bean/extract and maple syrup/honey to create the “icing”. Cut watermelon into different size rounds. Use mini cutters to cut out fruit shapes for garnish. Prepare toppings. “Frost” your layers with the yogurt “icing”. Build your cake and decorate with your choice of toppings. Freeze for about 15 min to set the “icing” before serving. Will you try to make a refreshing watermelon cake?
